If we look at two players FFA stats, they are near-identical, yet one (NoMoreSocks) is level 30 trueskill while the other (Limey_x) is level 24... so how is it calculated? are we meant to take it that they are relatively unreliable?

There are a few other discrepancies - e.g. DTR 7197 ranked better than DTR 7678, score per game 2472.01 is ranked better than 2486.91, 161 wins ranked higher than 170, 3933 kills ranked higher than 4266 (etc).

Just wondering if there's a reason for this, if its known errors or what? I updated both stats at the same time to check if it was something to do with that too.

Trueskills aren't unreliable, they're just gathered differently depending on the circumstance. A new user who collects their stats for the first time needs a baseline. We don't want users who have 1000 games already to start at level one; to account for this, new users are placed within a certain range depending on their overall stats (this is because TrueSkills get more difficult as you level up, if new players were evaluated at level 1, they would likely be placed at 50). This also should explain the discrepancy between the DTR scores and score per game; some players may begin at a low level (amassing more kills, wins, etc) but end with a lower site score, the important thing to remember is that score and TrueSkill become more difficult to earn as you progress, it's a dynamic formula that doesn't base itself on averages, which is why there appears to be an issue between the numbers.

I hope that clarifies our system for you. :)
