Lets take a look at some of the weapons used in Crucible and Trials to get a sense of the current meta. Of course, with Curse of Osiris just occurring, there are some weapons (rather one particular) that stands out above the rest, however, we can also look at the weapons used overall.

With over .8 % of the entire population using the MIDA Multi-Tool, this scout rifle has become a standard since the game launched. Speaking from experience, the weapon is stable, consistent, and has the ability to be used in various lanes. The gun is ideal for mid-long distance providing those that are passive in their approach the ability to team shot easily.

Often going hand in hand with the MIDA is usually the Energy Weapon Uriel's Gift. This weapon is ideal with it's stability and range giving players what they need in the mid-short range game. It is used in tandem with other weapons, especially on PC where many are using a mixture of Hand Cannons and Auto Rifle combinations.

With it's Rampage perk, stability and damage, the Origin Story is the most used Kinetic Weapon in the game currently. At this moment over 1.3% of the population uses the weapon in PvP alone. The weapon is also helpful in PvE allowing players to easily mow through enemies. While there are some weapons that do either or, this weapon does both.

The second most used weapon in both Trials and Crucible, Sins of the Past is a go to for those who want to use Heavy often. The weapon has cluster bombs perk to help in spreading damage to surrounding areas. As of December 10th the weapon, is 6th in total kills of all weapons in all PvP gametypes being used as a way to gain quick kills in this team-based meta.

Currently, with 75.3% usage on all PvP Gametypes, the Prometheus Lens is the most used weapon probably in the history of the Destiny series as a whole. Of course, Bungie, will be changing the weapon with updates stating on twitter " As ‘Laser Tag’ weekend comes to a close, we’re making good on our promise to address the fact that Prometheus Lens is way too powerful. Sure it’s fun, but it breaks the Crucible for anyone who wants to use a different weapon. Given the short window we had to make an emergency fix, it will be adjusted to be way too weak. In January, this new Exotic will receive a proper, play-tested design pass. " the weapon is still fun to use with it's ability to, currently, quickly kill players. I recommend all players use it while they still can.

Of course things will be changing in the coming weeks with updates to the Sandbox starting as early as January. Right now this is the current meta we are dealing with but hopefully this will not be the end for Destiny 2 as a whole as new players and weapons have yet to be introduced thanks to Curse of Osiris.
