The Revelry is upon us, as Spring blooms across the world of Destiny 2. Released on April 16 as a "celebration of spring in the Tower", the inaugural seasonal event has brought colour, cheer, and that ever-lasting spring happiness to Guardians across the solar system.

That said, most Guardians care more about what kind of sweet loot they're going to get out on any event dropped by Bungie, rather than how much the colour packages have changed in the title, and luckily for them, there's Exotics and activities aplenty in the bountiful event.

The Revelry sees Eva Levante, still manning the Holiday vending stall, become a gateway to the Verdant Forest. This location will be familiar to those players that participated in the Festival of the Lost last year - it's a rebranded and relaunched version of the Haunted Forest.

When in the Forest, Guardians will have to grind out firefights with new bosses, fighting for the right to snag one of the new Revelry armor set pieces now on offer in the Spring event. Alongside these new armor sets, Eva also offers a new consumable process - the Reveler Tonic.

This tonic can be filled with Reveler's Essence, which reduces melee, grenade, and class ability cooldowns in the Verdant Forest. For each piece of armor Guardians collect throughout the event, the tonic becomes more powerful, creating fasters abilities and grenades, and making sure you can clear the Forest at an ever-increasing rate.

Interestingly, Bungie revealed this tonic would also take effect outside the Forest. That means players can chug down the glorious new drink in modes like Strikes, Raids, and even in the player-vs-player Crucible mode to grab themselves a competitive advantage. The tonics can also be traded into Eva for a package containing a random assortment of weapons, equipment, Enhancement Cores, and even ornaments to hang from the Revelry's helmets.

But yes, we did say Exotic earlier, so of course, that's the main question on everyone's lips - what is it, and how do I claim it?

The Arbalest, Destiny's newest weapon, is an exotic kinetic linear fusion rifle. According to Bungie, it's a mould-breaking gun that changes the rules of how linear fusions work.

While these kinds of guns have always been reserved for the Heavy slot in a Guardian's inventory, and have always dished out high levels of elemental damage when the trigger gets clicked, this new exotic instead switches those rules on their heads.

Alongside the game-changing choices on the gun, the Arbalest comes with two cool perks - Compounding Force, and Disruption Break.

The first of these makes sure the Arbalest fires physical slugs instead of elemental bolts, meaning the new linear fusion rifle can deal massive levels of damage to enemy shields. The second perk sees the Arbalest increase its Kinetic damage output after shields have been broken. That means instead of the usual 'break enemy shield, swap guns to finish them off' strategy, you can just keep peppering the bad guys with this new gun to get the job done quickly.

So how in Shaxx's name do you score this game-changing linear fusion rifle, I hear you ask?

Eva is selling the item for 300 Reveler's Essence all throughout the Revelry event. Unfortunately, there's a catch when it comes to Levante's willingness to sell you the gun - she won't part with it until you've also completed the Party Hard Triumph quest.

The new Revelry quest asks you to complete seven of the 10 event triumphs on offer, including but not limited to generating 200 orbs of light in different playlists, clearing 50 Verdant Forest branches, defeating multiple bosses in one Forest run, or just clearing enemies in specific ways.

Complete seven of these 10 missions, and you'll crack open Eva's barrier holding you back from the Arbalest. If you want to finish all 10, you can also bag yourself a 'Party Harder' emblem, exclusive to the Spring event.

The Revelry begins today, and will run through to reset on Wednesday, May 7.
