Apparently, the Destiny 2 hype train has gained enough velocity to break any and all seals that were keeping back the leaks. If you want to stay spoiler free for the next few days then it might be time to go off the grid, and I mean completely off the grid. One massive source of the leaks is the Destiny 2 strategy guide that a few have gotten their hands on. I’m shielding myself from most of the leaks, but there were a couple of things I wanted to know more about that won’t really spoil anything related to the game. One topic, in particular, I was interested in was the Clans / Guided Games section.
If you're not familiar with Guided Games, it's how Bungie is implementing a new LFG (looking for group) feature in game for those wanting to play endgame content but don't meet the required player count. Guided Games will match up Clans and solo players for normal mode Nightfalls and Raids. This video by Bungie does a fantastic job explaining the ideas behind Clans and Guided Games [Video].
There wasn’t really any new information mentioned about Clans or Guided Games in the strategy guide, with one exception – Oathkeeper’s Score. If you’ve visited a clan profile page, chances are you’ve seen something called “OathKeepers Score”. Thanks to the leak, we now know a little more about it.
Here’s what the strategy guided has to say about Oathkeeper's Score:
“Before you can lead a Guided Game, you must first take a Guardian’s Oath – basically, you agree to be friendly and helpful and see the activity through to the end. Failing to honor your oath lowers your Clan’s Oathkeeper’s Score and temporarily bars you from leading another Guided Game. This penalty is waived if the fireteam votes to surrender, but the failure is still factored into your Clan’s Oathkeeper’s Score. “
This appears to be a small attempt to rate clans or at the very least punish ones that may prove to be lousy guides by being unable or unwilling to complete the activity. Personally, I would like to see this expanded. Perhaps similar to an Uber rating where the players rate each other after the experience giving all parties a little extra incentive to play nice.
Dates for Guided Games are as follows:
September 12th – Guided Games Beta – Bungie will be rolling this out as a “soft beta” on September 12th at 10am PT (11am MT/ 12pm CT / 1pm ET) for the Nightfall. While all clans will have access to the system, only 30-50% of solo players will be given access, allowing time for more clans to become available.
September 26th – Guided Games (Nightfall and Raid) – Full access to the Guided Games system will become available for all solo players for the Nightfall and Raid on September 26th at 10am PT (11am MT/ 12pm CT / 1pm ET).
Guided Games is going to be a great way to grow your Clan and possibly make some new friends along the way. If you're not in a Clan yet or maybe you would like to start one - this guide will help -Destiny 2 Clan Set-up
Allons-y, Guardians!
