Trials returns this weekend with Countdown on the map Emperors Respite, on board of the Leviathan ship. Countdown is one of Trials new competitive game modes in Destiny 2. In this mode, two teams alternate sides between attack and defend over placed "Charges" in two points of the map. "Attack" have the opportunity to set a Charge and begin a countdown or eliminate the enemy team to win. "Defense" must stop the Charge, if activated, at all costs. Even if the enemy team is all eliminated the Charges must be deactivated. The first team to six rounds wins the match. If your team gets seven wins with no losses you will acquire a flawless card and can then ascend the Spire.

  • Attack team can set Charges or eliminate enemy team
  • Defense must protect Charges or eliminate other team before a Charge is set

The Trials of the Nine map this week is on board the Leviathan ship itself. This map is new to competitive mode in the Crucible, being unlocked for everyone by the first Raid group to beat the Leviathan Raid. This map is fit for a Emperor, with large spaces and surrounded with glittering gold everywhere. With large spaces this gives teams ample room to maneuver, flanks and picks will be easier to execute through the many rooms, and even an outside garden space. Be sure not to be caught off guard by a strategic enemy team, get a solid feel for this map and its many flanking routes prior to entering a trials match. Scouts/Auto rifles would be a good combination for this map, preparing you for long and medium range engagements. Team shooting has proven to be extremely devastating in Destiny 2, move as a team to gain an advantage in long range engagements. Good luck Guardians, and may the best team win!
