Destiny Community Artist Spotlight Collaboration Special Edition: Boompus III & MVarcoeArt
Greetings Guardians! Our community has many talented and skilled Guardians in it, some of those Guardians are artists. Each week we will showcase some works of art created by one of our very talented artists in the Destiny community. Some of those gifted Guardians come together to create something truly special. This week our Spotlight is a special one, wanting to shine a Spotlight on those Guardians that came together, collaborating with each other as they highlight each others styles and techniques to create something that is truly special and unique just like the Destiny community itself. Our two collaborating Guardians, a Warlock and aTitan are both masters of their class. Both have been playing Destiny since it first released. Boompus III, who was one of our Spotlight artists in October ( you can read more about this amazing Guardian here destinytracker.com/weekend breakdown/ artist spotlight: Boompus III) and MVarcoeArt who has been creating art as long as he can remember. MVarcoeArt preferred medium for creating art is using non-photo blue pencils and Faber-Castell black ink pens, admitted he never liked coloring any of his drawings preferring the feel of a piece in its raw black and white tones. Often in school MVarcoeArt would rather receive a lower mark then add color to his works. MVarcoeArt has been playing Destiny since its release day one. After his brother messaged him, urging him to purchase the game asap, MVarcoeArt after leaving work picked up a copy and has been rocking a Titan even since. Boompus III and MVarcoeArt first met on IG (Instagram) both creating Destiny themed art and after commenting on each others pieces began conversing and sharing both their own passions for both creating art and Destiny. Soon after both found themselves in a Destiny artist group together, where artists in the community would support one another and bounce ideas around. Asking Boompus III what drew him to ask MVarcoeArt about doing a collaboration piece together. Boompus III replied excitedly " I absolutely love his style. He makes insanely dynamic poses and scenes without references that I can't do if my life depended on it. I love his designs so much that I asked him if he wanted to partner up for a Collab one day, cause I felt like our styles would compliment each other very well, his design with my shading". Working to compliment each others strengths and signature styles led them to collaborate on a New Monacrhy Titan MVarcoeArt had drawn and Boompus III then added his signature shading and style recognizable through out the community to highlight the Titan, MVarcoeArt had created. The process was exciting and both artists enjoyed creating something truly amazing together, that the time put into it was well worth it. " We just had a blast with it, we made the New Monarchy Titan, and just had to complete the set cause it was so much fun. We didn't even plan them out to be Faction Rally pieces with the full faction armor set, flag, exotic helm and class sword... but after the Titan piece we thought it was literally perfect to make the series. So we did and we had a blast with it-Boompus III".
Asking MVarcoeArt where he thought the most excitement and time was spent creating these incredible collaboration pieces he replied " I feel like the New Monarchy Titan took the longest. From the time I showed Boompus my rough sketch of the Titan, inked it, sent it to Boompus, then had him work his magic it seemed like a lot longer then the other two. I think we had the hand off down so the Warlock and Hunter were super smooth. Again the New Monarchy Titan was the most exciting one for me. I main Titan and once it was finished I just really liked how it turned out with the ink and it looked even better with the shading". Collaborating together, Boompus III is a truly talented and amazing artist. With his unique style of shading and attention to detail working with traditional pen and ink. Then adding the incredible style that MVarcoeArt has for his amazing ability to use no references when posing a subject when creating a new piece. Boompus III had this to say about MVarcoeArt " I love his eye for design. He really makes some insanely complicated scenes or stances that most artists can simply not do without references. But Mike can literally just look at a guardian, and make an amazing design from just that. I envy his ability to do so, and I feel like our strengths perfectly compliment each other's style". Our community is fortunate to have two Guardians in it like Boompus III and MVarcoeArt, they are not only talented artists with their own styles but are some of the nicest, most approachable Guardians in the community. They both enjoy conversing and interacting each day with other Guardians not only discussing art but also their shared passion for Destiny itself. Starting out admiring each others art and growing a friendship then creating something amazing together and sharing it with the community shows how unique and amazing our community truly is. Both Boompus III and MVarcoeArt being accomplished artist in the community, collaborating on a shared piece together has brought each of their art to the next level with not only the experience and joy with creating something special together but also the ability to try new things. Asking what would they say to other artist about the experience and benefits of working with another artist on a piece? Boompus III shared "*This experience was a blast for me and it made me try a lot of new things I probably wouldn't have tried otherwise, and that is an awesome thing to do. Not only was it such a fun experience, but I genuinely grew as an artist form it as well. I would recommend every artist to try and work with other artists in the community!!! Not just to do full blown collaborations like Mike and I did, but to do what my friends and I do every day, which is to talk about and discuss our art with each other. *". Being an inspiration to all of us in the community that working together we can create and accomplish amazing things. I'm sure this is not the last we will see a collaboration between Boompus III and MVarcoeArt as they pair so well complimenting each others strengths and styles with creating incredible pieces together.
