Community Content Creator - BushmanBob and the Destiny Addicts Podcast

The Destiny community is full of talented Guardians. The Content Creators are a huge part of the community and put so much time and effort into bringing something special to the community. DTR (destiny tracker) wants to shine the spotlight on some of the content creators in the community to recognize them for all the hard work they do, day in and day out, on stream and in the community. This week our Spotlight doesn't go to just a single Guardian, but a team of fantastic Guardians that have created something special that everyone can enjoy each week, and focusing on a single member would not do this fire-team of Guardians justice. The Destiny Addicts Podcast is made up of Bushmanbob, Jeanius93, Cyn, KendoGibbo, and Synchromeshi. They all met at different times, which BushmanBob describes, "We all met at different times, but nearly all through Destiny Reset Podcasts great community. KendoGibbo was a friend of a DRP member, Jeanius, Cyn and myself all are DRPfam (DestinyResetPodcast) alumni. The exception is Synchromeshi who I found when I jumped on with Trans Tasman Raiders, which I found through the clan spotlight on Guardian Radio. Basically all through podcast communities". With the Destiny community reaching around the world, bringing Guardians in from all walks of life in every country, this team of Guardians is a perfect example of how the community brings Guardians together. The majority of The Destiny Addicts Podcast, being from Australia with a difference in timezone, made it difficult to find other Guardians to play Destiny with. Bushmanbob had this to say about what made them want to create a community podcast, "Being in Australia, although DRP has an excellent community focus, there were often only 1-2 people on during my peak playing periods (at night)… With the exception of crazy Hawaiians that woke up at 5am to play, or night shift workers from the USA, I didn’t have any luck in getting raid teams together. I also loved the focus on Charity in the Destiny Community, but this again was very US focused. We wanted to create a place for people both in the USA and around the globe to have a voice, to make local fireteams, and eventually get group meet ups in other areas around the world. We use the100.io to set times to play with each other and those in the community, and would encourage others to come and join us in sessions… If you do, there is a strong chance you will get a shout out in the podcast, if we remember…"

It's easy to see the fun loving nature of these Guardians, as they are always having a laugh and enjoying each other, as well as with others. The focus of the podcast is primarily Destiny, but they enjoy the experience of doing the show together and talking about anything else that may come to mind. Jeanius93 shared what he enjoys most about doing the podcast, "My favorite part of doing the podcast for myself would be getting together with friends and trying to cover some Destiny material from our point of view. My favorite part of the community is that I get to interact and talk to a bunch of awesome people from all over the world and they make the community what it is... positivity is key... appreciate all the positive people". When asking the same question to Synchromeshi, what he enjoys most about doing the podcast, he replied " Having a good catch up with mates. Having our own take and discussion while having a laugh. The reactions from Bushman when Gibbo makes him Google something and the random stuff that Gibbo can come up with keeps it interesting". I quickly understood what Synchromeshi meant about Kendogibbo with his fun loving sense of humor, seeing that he is easily a class clown among the group. Although most will point at the other as the class clown, Kendogibbos' reply to what he enjoys most about doing the podcast made it obvious he enjoys having a laugh, his reply was, "I love chewing the fat and having a laugh at these guys. And the money".

With the same excited smile and chuckle, which Bushmanbob is known for, he replied to the same question of what he enjoyed most about doing the podcast, "Being able to have stupid conversations about the game we love, making fun of things that go well, and generally not so well week to week, all with positivity towards the game and others. I also love chatting to others and meeting new people through the discord, and starting to build our own little community, as although our podcast takes the piss out of ourselves, our discord is never salty, but instead super helpful, with people sharing support for each other’s personal lives and even food recipes (Although we are still waiting on some Spam ones from Jeanius93). We laugh pretty much all the time and do things on the fly. I love to niggle at KendoGibbo on the podcast, and push Jeanius93 to breaking point if possible. I love listening to Synchromeshi trying to keep us on track, and Cyn’s focus on actually trying to get some Destiny content in there". There's no doubt these guys really have a lot of fun spending time with each other on and off the podcast. It's easy to see how these gentlemen have begun to create a following of fans of The Destiny Addicts Podcast, and friends in the community that they engage with everyday. I asked Bushmanbob where they got their Destiny Addicts Podcast logo from, he answered with saying, "Many thanks for our current logo was to JHoward414, who was hugely supportive in getting things up and running for us". The cast of Destiny Addicts Podcast are truly some of the nicest Guardians in the community, being spirited and fun natured, having continued to help others in the community with supporting charity streams and events in the community. Having asked Bushmanbob about the charities they have helped support with the show, he responded with, "Our first one was with SentinelDad and the Sundowners that was the one that will always be remembered due to so much community involvement and such a good cause for a few different charities. Jeanius93 does a charity stream weekly now. We have a couple of ideas and approaches from others in the works. We would like to build our community numbers up further prior to doing our own charity stream but will always be willing to help support any".

This group of Guardians have created something special for the community, they have grown life long friendships with one another that resemble a family more than gaming pals. They understand each others' needs and support each other. If one of them can’t make it on one week they make a point to razz them on the show a little for missing out, but it is all in love. Bushmanbob added, "We support each other and the people in our discord through giving advice on everything from how to set up your PC, to what you should do in a personal situation that was affecting you". Jeanuis93 added enthusiastically, "I like to listen to Gibbo go on about his rants and the fact that Bush (Bushmanbob) misspells things makes it even better so we can bug him about it... as would any family. we are a family because we act like one... dysfunctional as it may be... we get a long in our own ways.... we care about each other and you see that in our community... we have a channel in our discord where we have a personal channel where all the BS is kept out and real honest feelings can be shared and we all join in and talk to each other about it and help in any way that we can". The Destiny Addicts Podcast are honestly a great group of Guardians, always willing to help others in and out the game. They love to have a few laughs and enjoy interacting with everyone each day and honestly care for others in the community. They are, at there core, a great example of how the Destiny community is unlike any other. Guardians are more than just players in a game, we are a family. I asked who in the Destiny community has influenced them on the growing of their own community, Bushmanbob replied, "I am not a big Twitch or youtube watcher, with most of my time listening to other podcasts. Destiny Reset Podcast, Guardian Radio, RNGCast, Massive Breakdowns, Destiny Tracker Podcast, Crucible Radio, Destiny Down Under, Destiny the Show and Fireteam Chat were what I knew prior to starting and I quickly found Dad Tales Podcast and now Fluffy Fingers’ new venture Potato Thumbs Podcast and Cyber Powered Hour who are all great podcasts". Jeanius93 answered giving some of his thoughts, "YungKhan is a huge influence on my art. He has been my sherpa through it so far". Cyn added, "I’m always encountering new content creators and members with different ideas. Definitely watch some blessious. Recently started watching Gothalion and Lupo stream".

Lastly, I wanted to ask the Destiny Addicts Podcast what some of their goals are for the near future. Bushmanbob answered with, "Just to continue to have non-sweaty fun, build on our community and eventually grow to a point we can make a real difference in future charity streams and set up local meetings with gamers in different cities around the world". Synchromeshi replied, "To participate in charity events and to continue to grow the show and listener base to help grow our community and clan." Kendogibbo replied as many would expect with, "To not get blacklisted from iTunes, and get our listener base to double figures". Cyn, having a more focused reply, said, "One main goal is just having more structure. Got pretty lax on a few episodes. I think we did a fantastic job on ep30. Structure while still keeping the DAP antics". Lastly, Jeanius93, having given it some thought, said "What I personally would wanna see with our podcast is to grow our listeners and family and also connect with so much more awesome people. This community is huge but I wanna connect everyone of them if we could". It was truly an honor getting to know the team at Destiny Addicts Podcast. The Destiny community is fortunate to have a group of Guardians like them. They are always willing to share a laugh or help in anyway they can, giving the community more meaning than just players of a game, but a family named Guardians. As always thanks for reading! Until we meet again at the Spicy Ramen Shop in the Tower, Take care Guardian!

Almost without a fault every person I have met (outside of LFG) has been selfless and helpful to others, and patient to average gamers like us (our hosts are ALL just average gamers). I love the focus on charity both from Bungie formally, and informally throughout the rest of the gaming community. - BushmanBob
