XUR

Greetings Guardians! Kicking off our weekend in Destiny 2 is our weekly visit from our socially awkward, reclusive vendor Xur. Xur if you are not familiar with Destiny is a vendor that appears in a random location every week from Friday through Tuesday reset, bringing with him an assortment of Exotic items for sale. These items can be purchased with Legendary Shards in game that can be earned during game play or by breaking down Legendary items and Mods. Having each week an Exotic weapon for purchase as well as a armor piece for each class of Guardian, truly having something for everyone. Each item he sells comes at a base level of 270 with an attached Legendary Mod on it (265 +5 mod =270) This week you can find Xur on Earth in the EDZ just north of the Winding Cove landing zone in the EDZ. Use your world map in your director and use his helpful Icon to seek him out quicker and set a way point as well. This week Xur's inventory consists of the following :

  • Prometheus Lens, trace rifle: 29 Legendary Shards

  • The Dragon’s Shadow, Hunter chest : 23 Legendary Shards

  • MK. 44 Stand Asides, Titan legs: 23 Legendary Shards

  • Nezarec’s Sin, Warlock helmet : 23 Legendary Shards

Trials of the Nine

Trials of the Nine has returned this week December 8th through reset Tuesday December 11th. This week the game mode is Countdown on Radiant Cliffs. Radiant Cliffs is one of the new PvP maps that came with the Curse of Osiris DLC taking place on Mercury – but in the past, it seems. Use caution though because you’ll be engaging the opposing team on cliffs along the edges of the map.. You probably guessed that already by the name of the map though. Access to Trials of the Nine is unlocked by finishing the Destiny 2 campaign, completing Lord Shaxx's Call to Arms milestone at least once, and having a Power level of 260 or higher. Matchmaking also is disabled so you will have to form your own fireteam to enter a Trials match. New to Trials of the Nine is the locked load out feature that disables players from changing weapons or gear after a match has begun. The game mode Countdown is played by teams alternate sides between attack and defense. Attack must advance on one of two bomb detonation points and plant a bomb. Once planted, the bomb will explode after a timer ticks down. If the attack team detonates the bomb or kill all the defending team, they win( bomb must be disabled even if the attack team is all defended). The defend team must protect both points from being detonated. If they kill all attackers or defuse the bomb, they win the round. The first team to six rounds wins the match, advancing to seven total match wins to obtain a Flawless victory. The social space in Trials known as the Spire is unlocked to all Trials players after a single win, allowing players to turn in tokens earned for rewards. With match wins 1,3,5,7 and Flawless unlocked different levels of the Spire ascending the mysterious tower ending in a Celestial realm when a Flawless card is achieved. Good Luck Guardians! i hope to see you at the Spire, and if you see me in a match, wave - say hi!

So far, Dead Orbit and New Monarchy have seen their banners waving in the wind over the City. Will this be the moment for Future War Cult? It’s up to every player on every platform. Lastly to wrap up this weekends breakdown a few words from Bungie's Jon Weisnewski on what the team over at Bungie has in store for us in the near future in Destiny 2.

A Word from Jon Weisnewski

The Balance of Power

"Whether you’ve met Osiris or not, Destiny 2 has some changes in store for you. With the beginning of Season Two, some of the ways that all Guardians fight have changed. The Patch Notes tell the full story, but the game designers can tell you to story behind the notes. Jon Weisnewski has some developer commentary about the updates to combat.

Jon: Hello Guardians. First item of business: We know about the Prometheus Lens. It’s not what we intended. The weapon shipped with a bug, which we intend to fix with Destiny Update 1.1.1, along with everything else in the December update. Until then, please go easy on the players who have yet to get their hands on one (we know you won’t, but it’s been said).

As for the rest of the sandbox, whether you're a long time player or reading one of these for the first time, we're glad to have the chance to give you a quick update on the first of many Destiny 2 tuning passes. Our process for making these changes relies on a combination of absorbing raw player feedback, consulting detailed player data, and reconciling those learnings with our own experiences as players of the game. We then playtest and fine tune the changes we make as much as possible.

In terms of DPS output, our data from the first few months of gameplay is showing that various categories of weapons are reasonably balanced. A resounding theme from players has been to address the stronger outliers without making them too weak or changing their identity. We agree. We hope this update reflects that.

Rather than try to address every feedback item with a potentially disruptive kitchen-sink update, we're taking a more targeted approach for this first round of changes. The main focus was bug fixes, tuning adjustments, and a few specific changes meant to address common feedback items.

Just because we aren't addressing a feedback theme in this release doesn't mean we aren't aware of it or have no plans to address it in the future. This was a calculated and stable approach for 1.1.0. We'll see how this one plays in the wild and reevaluate going forward."

Thanks for reading.
