Community Artist Spotlight : TRIllustrates
Our community has many talented and skilled Guardians in it, some of those Guardians are artists. Each week we will showcase some works of art created by one of our very talented artists in the Destiny community. This week, our spotlight goes out to a Guardian that has captured the eyes and imagination of many in and out of the community with his incredible pieces and unique styles. TRIllustrates has been playing Destiny since the Beta came out, " I was a big fan already before the release as I love Sci Fi shooters. I main a hunter. I started as a titan initially but the lore of Dwindler ridge pulled me into loving golden gun forever!". Beginning at an early age between 3 or 4 years old, TRillustrates started exploring his creativity as a child like many others with exploring ones creativity through art. TRillustrates had this to say about when he first started exploring his creativity as a child, " I use to sit on the floor and doodle cartoons and sketch fantasy creatures or trees and the ocean. I love being outside and it inspires a lot of my art, however I didn’t start taking art seriously until about 4 years ago."
Its not hard to see that TRillustrates has a natural talent for creating beautiful pieces of art and unique pieces at the same time that have captivated so many with his talents. Asking TRillustrates what his favorite medium is for creating pieces, and what medium he would like to try in the future he replied " That’s a tough one. I love traditional oil painting but its expensive. That’s what drove me to digital art. It basically lets you paint like oil paints but you have unlimited paints and canvas sizes to use. Plus you don’t have to wait for it to dry. Id love to try metal sculpting one day. Its always fascinated". With the level of detail and texture TRillustrates uses in each piece he creates, its as if the surroundings are real and not drawn with the way he captures the realistic feel of nature. Asking TRillustrates who or what inspired him to start creating Destiny fan art in the community he replied saying " Honestly the lore of the game is what really drove me. I loved the stories and the images they created in my head as I read the grimoire and wanted to bring those to life. The Story of Yor and Jaren Ward and Shin Malphur is what inspired most of my artwork. Love a good revenge western". The lore of Destiny has captured so many in the community with its detailed background stories, opening the door to welcome people to use their imaginations to envision the lore for themselves. TRillustrates has painted some of those pictures with what his imagination envisions what some of the lore would look like, at the same time bringing that lore to life with incredible detail its as if it came from the story itself. TRillustrates has been in the Destiny community a long time not only creating beautiful art but is also one of the founding members of the DCA (Destiny Community Artists) group. Asking how the DCA came to be and what was it like when it came together TRillustrates fondly replied " Its actually pretty funny. I met Jhoward during one of my art streams. He happened to come to my stream even though I average maybe 1 – 2 viewers. He liked my artwork and messaged me on twitter. We instantly became best friends and played karate in the garage and one day we were talking about the talent in the community and how even tho artists make some amazing stuff they are generally overshadowed by youtubers and streamers. So we said it would be cool if someone created a group for artists that wanted to grow and get better to talk with eachother and share ideas. Well the next day J messaged me and was like Hey I started a discord to make what we talked about a reality. And we just began inviting everyone we thought would enjoy it. Now its bigger than we ever imagined and its amazing to see the recognition and growth of artists in our community". The DCA has become a huge part of the Destiny community, with it being inspiration to so many in the community that we as Guardians are more than hero's of the Last City in the game, we're a family of Guardians. The amount of support the members of the DCA have for supporting each artists work and willingness to help each artist grow creatively and over all is an incredible inspiration to all of us. Asking TRillustrates what his favor part of the community is he replied " It’s honestly the community. I feel like I’ve made some great friends just playing a game we mutually love". With having so many fans of his own in and out of the community that admire his work, I asked who is he a fan of ? TRillustrates replied with saying " Its funny you say that as I still feel like a small guy who creates art and hopes at least someone out there will appreciate it. I think who I look up to the most in the community is professor broman. I feel like even with his success he’s always trying to help others better themselves and grow. I think that’s a special individual when even as you yourself grow you can help others achieve their dreams as well".
TRillustrates is truly an incredible artist and one of the nicest, most approachable Guardians in the community. He has also inspired so many to create art pieces as well, asking TRillustrates what advise he would give to a starting out artist in the community to inspire them to grow as an artist he replied " My biggest piece of advice would be to draw as much as you can and to not be afraid to share. Even if others critique your work it can only help to make you better. And also create artwork because you love to. If you're in it just for fame or money you'll get burnt out but if you create because its your passion then you'll always love what you do". Our community is fortunate to have such a talented and inspirational artist in the community. Always open to help others grow as artists themselves with giving any advice or even jumping into Destiny 2 to enjoy playing with friends, he is truly a one of a kind Guardian. Lastly asking TRillustrates what kind of music he listens to or who's streams he tunes into on Twitch when he is creating his mindblowing pieces, and what feelings does he get when he is doing a commission piece for someone and they finally see it? TRillustrates replied with a big smile " California Reggae 1000%. Drawing is very personal for me and so is reggae music. It’s the only music I feel truly connected to. And so it helps me just escape whenever I draw. And I actually am pretty nervous. You never know if someone is gonna love it or hate it. But so far Ive been lucky enough to have had some awesome commissions where everyone is really satisfied". This was truly an honor having TRillustrates as this weeks Spotlight, he is an incredible artist and an inspiration to everyone. Hoping nothing but the best for him and all the artists in the community and in the DCA we all look forward to what comes next.
