The Destiny community is full of talented Guardians. The Content Creators are a huge part of the community. All of us here at DTR (Destiny Tracker) want to spotlight some of the content creators in the community and recognize them for all the hard work they do, day in and day out, on stream and in the community. This week our Spotlight goes out to a fire-team of Guardians that have created something truly special for the whole community and beyond to enjoy. Around the time of the House of Wolves DLC expansion of the first Destiny, a bunch of these dad's started to game together on a regular basis. By the time the Taken King expansion came out they were raiding in Destiny three times a week. It was an experience full of ridiculous, funny, and embarrassing moments that many can relate to. " We thought our party chat was absolutely hilarious (which it is) and thought that it would work well as a podcast. At first we thought about a rotating cast of co-hosts, but ultimately decided on the cast of regulars you hear today", Stu, from Dad Tales Podcast, added. The Dad Tales Podcast has been in the community since the beginning of Destiny, with a beginning similar to many of ours, with jumping into the world Bungie created head first and meeting Guardians that grew into life long friendships. Their friendship blossomed into something special that is shared with the community and beyond. Wondering how the Dad Tales Podcast got its' name, I asked how their name come to be. Baroquereaper responded saying, " oh jeez that took forever to agree upon. We started as “Dad Tales from the Tower”, but we dropped “From the tower” pretty early on. Too many words, lol. Destiny 1 was everyone's Main Game but we didn't want to get pigeonholed with the show being set in the “tower” so we tried to avoid anything too specific. We're all proud parents, and everyone wanted the word “Dad” to be included somewhere. A few raids interrupted by crying children was common and accepted because we're dad's first, and gamers second. Also, most importantly, Dad Tales reminded us of the DuckTales theme song (you might solve a mystery...or rewrite history, Dad Tales, whoo-ooo!) which is awesome in its own right". Thus, the Dad Tales Podcast was born, delivering hilarious entertainment each week on the podcast with the hosts jcjesse, Baroquereaper, STUGATZZO, and BOOSTkdv. Each of these Guardians brings something special to the show and each came into the community at different times. jcjesse started playing D1 during the alpha and beta of PS4, " *I was an admin for my old clan and one of the only guys with a PS4 so I bought it there. I didn’t really have anyone to play with and I wasn’t playing the game right. I wasn’t gathering materials or doing bounties I didn’t get it at first. I got bored and went back to Xbox playing Forza Horizon 2 but all my friends were playing Destiny all the time so I bought it a second time for Xbox right around Halloween of 2014. I started playing it regularly and didn’t look back for the next 3 years. I played all three classes but if you were gonna force me to play one it would be striker Titan*". Living in Philadelphia with his wife and three kids, jcjesse not only wore a beeper in middle school he also has always been a huge fan of radio shows, " *it’s truly a joy to live out the fantasy of being a radio show host with our podcast. I get excited for every episode like it’s our first and do my best to put out a fun and funny show every week*". Curious where his gamer-tag came from, I asked how his gamer-tag came to be and who created his logo, " *Well my gamer-tag is just my first and middle initial with my last name. Not exactly the coolest lol. If I knew years ago I was gonna be on a podcast I’d have picked a cool name like RageMonster Incorporated or Firey Python Knuckles. Jh0ward414 did my logo. It was time for a re-brand and I heard re-branding was so hot right now*". Recently jcjesse has been working with other community members, Marksquare and IndulgentHuman. With their combined talents, and jcjesses' vast knowledge of 80's pop culture, they are creating an art series called the Vanguard Cinema Series, that truly is a must see.

STUGATZZO began playing Destiny during the beta, but wasn't totally sold on the game at that point, "*Fast forward to release date, Sept. 9th, which also happened. to be my birthday. Screw it, Happy Birthday, buy yourself a game Stu, you deserve it. It's from Bungie after all! (Huge Halo nerd back in the day). I started as a dirty hunter for the first year, until I saw the Light, and now I split my time evenly between Warlock and Titan*" Stu added. Stu shows his humor to so many in the community, he is known to be a fun loving community member with a even bigger heart " *I'm Stu, but you knew that. Some people love me, other people are wrong, and should feel ashamed of their life choices. . I've played video games my whole life, and have owned most every major console since the Atari 2600 (skipped a few Nintendo consoles, but still…). I mostly play FPS games these days, but love a good game regardless of genre or platform. Looking forward to what the world of gaming brings us in 2018 (Elder Scrolls 6 news please!!?!?!!?) and as always, Go Leafs Go*". Living around Toronto, Canada, he shows obvious pride for his local hockey team, the Toronto Maple Leafs, which explains his unmissable "Go Leafs Go!". I asked where and how he came up with his gamer-tag and logo, Stu replied, " *My (current) gamer-tag started as an inside joke between friends. It's a VERY loose and VERY rough translation of an Italian phrase that, basically, means “This F#$*er”. My previous gamer-tag may or may not have been flagged as “violating Xbox terms of Service” whatever nonsense THAT means? My logo is just meant to be my gamer-tag in the style of a Future War Cult emblem from D1. It was created for me by one of the OG Dad Tales Podcast listeners, and all around Good Guy, Academyoscar. Might be time for an update, I hear re-brands are hot right now*".

BOOSTkdv aka Kevin, is a Jersey boy with his wife and three beautiful daughters. He began gaming, and fell in love with it after Goldeneye 64 came out " That was the game that made my eyes widen a bit. From there I dove deep into the Call of Duty series where I have probably spent most of my gaming career. I still purchase, play and stream every CoD game to date". BOOSTkdv started playing Destiny during the beta as well, which didn't leave to much as far as details of the game and wasn't sure he would like it as well but, " Slowly but surely it started to sink it’s teeth into me and with over 2,000 hours in Destiny 1 I can safely say that I mained a Titan. Although, my first creation was a Warlock. For Destiny 2 I currently only have a Warlock, so I guess I’ll call that my main". Lastly, asking how he came up with his gamer-tag and if anyone created his logo, already sensing a trend with the hotness of re-branding BOOSTkdv replied, " The Boost in my name came from my 1987 Toyota Supra Turbo. People in my high school use to call me “Boosted Bubba” because I was one of the only students with a turbocharged vehicle at the time and Bubba was my childhood nickname. lol. Until The Fast and the Furious came out and everyone had some type of juice in their car. The “kdv” in my name is simple, my initials and since re-brands were so hot at the time I decided to create it on Xbox Live. Currently I don’t have a logo, but if anyone wants to make one for me feel free! lol".

Last but certainly not the least, our final host, Baroquereaper began his journey in Destiny on the day it came out. Missing the beta, and not seeing anything about the game, all he knew was all his friends were getting it. Winning a copy of Destiny from a contest with an old clan he was apart of, Baroquereaper sunk his teeth into the game. After hitting level 20 and getting a good grasp on the game he was hooked. " It was a great way to help me stay up on my days off. The first year it was out I had a crazy schedule 12pm -12am. On my 3-4 days off I would play destiny from 8pm ish on to help me keep that schedule. So I was usually around and became really good as a lot of aspects of the pve part of the game because I helped run people through different parts to fill the time. Crucible wasn't my jam for quite a while, but I eventually got okay at it. So after well over 2000 hours I think you can say I like the game, And I have all three classes. I like each but my first was a warlock and it always feels like home, but feel each has its place in the game and usefulness" Baroquereaper stated. Letting his age show, Baroquereaper started playing video games on an Atari 2600, and worked his way up through most of the gaming consoles over the years. Eventually he got an xbox 360 to play with a friend that had moved away, it was a great way for them to keep in contact and play games as they did growing up. Playing many different kinds of games from platformers, role playing, strategy, finally arriving at FPS (first person shooters) on Xbox, Baroquereaper can be easily seen as a life long gamer that now is sharing some of his passion for it with his daughter. Lastly, I asked how his gamer-tag came to be and how or who created his logo I asked just that bracing myself for the running humor of these truly fun loving guys. Baroquereaper responded saying, " My gamer-tag has no special meaning. I put Reaper in the gamer-tag selection when I got my xbox 360 and it came up with Baroquereaper as a suggestion as Reaper had been taken along with 3 billion other versions of it and I really didn't want to be Reaper3927251 or something stupid like that (no offense if that’s you, but seriously), and I thought it sounded cool. The Nickname BBQ is a completely different story. Back in the COD Black Ops Days I joined in on a game my friend was in to play with him. I was put on the other team and he was in chat for his team. All of a sudden a guy on his team in a thick Hispanic accent started yelling about “this Barbeque reaper Dude keeps killing me” Thus was born the Nickname of BBQ. My logo, I did it. But thinking it’s time for a re-brand, I heard rebranding is hot right now".

Our community is such a unique community in that the game Destiny, Bungie created spawned something greater than just a game. This community has grown and branched out in the sense that it has opened doors and opportunities for many of its member to do something they would have never have been inspired to do before. Learning a little about each one of the hosts behind the Dad Tales Podcast shows the fun loving nature of each of them, that coming together to create a podcast was indeed Destiny. They bring so much positivity every week with each episode they release and have inspired many others in the community to create something special themselves. The Dad Tales Podcast logo is a community staple that many throughout it can recognize it and instantly speak grinning about something humorous that was heard on one of their many episodes. The DTP (Dad Tales Podcast) logo was created by one of the founders of the DCA (Destiny Community Artist) Jh0ward414 who is a extremely talented graphic designer, and all around great guardian in the community. With creating a podcast there is alot of technical aspects of it and alot to learn, asking if they got any help or support from another community member when they were getting started, jcjesse responded "Before we got started I did a ton of research and just tried to take in everything I could. I had been on Destiny Reset a couple times so I had an idea of what went into it. I did reach out to them and had a great Q&A session with Cyborg that was a huge help. The way we do the show now has evolved into something completely different from where we started. We record it all live not local recording. Makes it easier on a Dad that has little time to edit. We also have a hundreds of live sound effects and clips I can play throughout the show. It adds a little more production value. Huge shout out to all our patrons who have helped us continue to make the show better and better". Seeing how our community is always willing to help one another it adds to the uniqueness of the Destiny community over other gaming communities in the world that no matter what fellow members are always welcoming and approachable for everyone and always willing to help one another to the best they can. With how unique our community is the Dad Tales Podcast is equally as unique with its fun humor, "dad" topics and entertaining segments that captivate listeners every week. Having some of the most loved and entertaining segments of any community podcast I asked how do they come up with each segment and if they could share a couple of the most popular ones and a failed one that didn't work out. They responded together saying " Usually if we have an idea we throw it out to the group and get a feel for it. After trying it on the show we see how we feel about it. By far Justin comes up with the most but everyone has had input of time and we all keep trying new things, some work and some die quickly". Adding to it jcjesse spoke up saying " The “Shananana!” bit was so bad it keeps coming back. Basically the idea was to say something awful and play the “Shananana” part of the Family Ties theme song right after to not make it that bad. Like, I” found a severed foot in my mailbox, Shananana!”. Yep still sucks lol. As long as we’re cracking each other up is all I care about. The whole show came from our regular raid team and our party chats making each other laugh. We just want people to be a part of it". Even a bad segment ultimately turns into a memorable one that still makes many people laugh with the mention of it. With the show approaching 100 episodes in the coming weeks I asked what do they want to accomplish by episode 100 and with so many episodes under their belt what is the main focus of the show each week, " The main focus each week is to make each other laugh but within all the silliness to have at least some good advice. We have segments like Dad Jokes, Fun Facts, Learnin’ Stuff and we'll also mix in some Guardians Choice or DTP Top 3 from time to time. We also have a DTP Spotify playlist where we each add a song every week. It's always fun to see each other's tastes in music. Occasionally we also do something we’ve called Dadprovements. Dadprovements is where we discuss things we want to work on as men, fathers, and husbands". On top of creating a weekly podcast loved by so many the Dad Tales Podcast also support the community with helping with charity streams and events the community does to spread the support of Guardians to those in need, I asked how many charity events have they participated in and what is a memorable moment that stands out to them from one, " We have been part of roughly a half dozen charity streams. There is one stream that does stand out though. While doing our part in the Gaming for Autism charity event one of our community members reached out to us to have us give his son, who has autism, a shout out. We totally obliged to his request and over the course of the next hour we gave him a few shout outs. This not only made the boy’s day but his week. And his dad was extremely grateful. Stands out just because it had so much of an impact". It's a heart warming and emotional experience knowing you are making a positive impact on someones life that, that moment sticks with you and reignites those emotions again thinking back. Moments like that are what make us Guardians.

It was truly a honor getting the opportunity to spotlight these incredible content creators in our community, the hosts of Dad Tales Podcast bring something truly special to the community every week. They have inspired many and shown support for many more, encouraging others to tap into their own creative side and not to be afraid to try something new. They each add something to the Dad Tales Podcast with their dad humor and fun loving attitudes that make them a community corner stone as a weekly podcast and as friends. Asking the Dad Tales Podcast what there favorite part of the community is they replied warmly saying " 100% the members of the DTP Discord and Clan. The group is filled with amazing people and it’s great feeling to know that in small way you’ve brought people of similar interests and stages in life together. They can game together free from judgment and build relationships that can will last a long time". Lastly some of the hosts of Dad Tales Podcast were invited and attended the D2 reveal last year, asking how was that experience with attending such a large community involved event such as one put on by Bungie themselves, jcjesse replied " It was an awesome experience and I’m so glad I was able to go due to the generosity of the DTP community. Not only did I get to meet and hang out with JustRockerDude but had the chance to meet a lot of really great people in the Destiny community I’ve only talked to in Party Chat or Skype. The level of excitement and wonder was through the roof. I’ll never forget it". What a truly excited and amazing experience that must have been indeed, hopefully we see more of those type events in the future as well as seeing our Dad Tales Podcast hosts in attendance along with many other wonder Guardians in the community even the average joe Guardians out there.
