This Week at Bungie - 8/30/18

The latest TWAB doesn't offer as much detailed information as previous weeks, but we did get a good look at Forsaken and the Year 2 roadmap in a nice, large pictorial format. Bungie will also be present at PAX West this weekend, if you are able to attend.

Mapping the Road Ahead

Gambit Trial

Swinging Ye Olde Ban Hammer

Frequently in online games that provide PvP content, salty proclamations over what is seen as unfair deaths in combat are littered across the Internet. In this week's TWAB, Bungie has addressed concerns regarding some nefarious benefits and how they are identified.

Salt

As per usual, Bungie never details exactly how they identify cheaters in Crucible, but they did note that the tools used to identify have been upgraded to provide more realistic results and punishments.

Play nice, people, and you won't have a thing to worry about...

Patch of a Patch of a Patch

Destiny 2: Forsaken will be available at 10AM Pacific on all platforms. Leading up to that time, here is what to expect:

Tuesday, September 4th

  • 7AM Pacific - Hotfix 2.0.0.1 will begin rollout, players leaving activities will not be able to log in, and any active players will be returned to the title screen
  • 7:30AM Pacific - Destiny 2 will be offline for maintenance and all players will be returned to the Title Screen

Maintenance and patches should take two-and-a-half hours

Known Issues

Hotfix 2.0.0.1 will address the following issues:

  • "Strange Terrain" Nightfall strike should, again, provide the chance to obtain strike-specific loot
  • XP Bar should return. Although some players do not see the bar currently, they are still earning XP and Bright Engrams at the same rate
  • Precision Multiplier for weapons with explosive rounds will be adjusted to the correct levels
  • Hand Cannon recoil on PC and aiming down sights were not working correctly, and are being investigated
  • Year 2 Forsaken weapons and armor that have dropped early may have minor changes following Hotfix 2.0.0.1
  • Objectives that require Heroic Strikes may not be achievable until the Hotfix
  • "Spicy Ramen" quest will not be able to be completed as the Ramen shop is no longer distributing expired coupons

Gear Infusion

Keep an eye on the gear you are attempting to infuse. If the higher-powered gear requires a level beyond your current level, and you infuse it into a piece of equipment, it will then change the level requirement, making it unavailable until you reach the required level.

Mod Changes

Mod changes go live on September 4th. A couple of things happen when these changes go live:

  • Elemental attributes on Year 1 weapons will be locked in, and you can no longer change them
  • Year 1 armor will accept Year 2 armor mods
  • Year 1 Gear will NOT receive randomized perks
  • Year 1 mods will go away on launch, so dismantle now in preparation for the Year 2 mod system

Bungie released two videos this week. The first is the Destiny 2: Forsaken Release Trailer and the second is a Destiny2: Forsaken ViDoc. Check them out if you have not at this point.

Year 1 has been a long road, and we are almost to the checkpoint. Both Guardians and Bungie alike have learned a lot this past year and we now have the chance to take that knowledge and experience into Year 2. Forsaken is just 4 days away and we wait with silent (sometimes not so silent) anticipation for our destiny to continue...
