There have been more and more rumours in recent weeks about Destiny 3, from whether or not player-vs-player modes will still be in the title, and which major enemies we will face in the next release.
For some Guardians however, the slow dripfeed information is becoming too much. One particular forum user, Kildozer, has clearly had enough.
"I don't want to hear about Destiny 3 until at least 2020," the disgruntled Guardian said. "Bungie literally just got Destiny 2 into a solid spot last September."
Kildozer reminisced on the positives and negatives of the first title Bungie released documenting the stories of Guardians, Ghosts, and alien races across the stars. For the veteran player, there were "ups and downs", but overall it was "great".
"Destiny had it's up and downs for the three years it had, but all three years were good," they said. "Maybe there were a few content droughts, but the gameplay or content never sucked. Conversly, Destiny 2 had the worst launch ever, and the game was horrible.
"Activision and Bungie doubled down on the garbage from Destiny 2's launch format, until the community uproar could no longer be ignored. With the Warmind launch the game got better, but let's face it - Destiny 2 truly became an installment in the series with Forsaken. Considering that, Destiny 2 has only seriously been playable for seven months."
The solution for this veteran Guardian who has already dedicated years of their life to the world that Bungie has created? "F@&k Destiny 3".
"Take your time Bungie," they said. "Develop it for the next generation consoles, and build it to be an epic on the first day. Don't just make Destiny 3 for the sake of making it.
"I feel like Bungie seriously needs to give this title a few solid years of content, otherwise what was all the point of the feedback and changes? If the next game comes out too soon, why not just say at the end of Warmind "Look, we screwed this game up. We'll just trash it, and deliver solid gold with Destiny 3".
Kildozer believes Bungie and the Destiny franchise are now at a turning point. What they do with the Destiny 3 plans, and what's left of Destiny 2 so far, will determine how the fanbase sees them forever.
"The future of the series, and the launch of the next game, will really show the industry and fanbase what a Bungie-controlled Destiny looks like. I really hope they don't sink the ship, and my hopes is that Destiny 2 can be built upon until at least September, 2021.
"We need two or three more years of a solid playable experience with this game first."
What do you think? Are you keen to hear what's next for the franchise? Or do you think Bungie need to shelf Destiny 3 plans until they've delivered a proper game in Destiny 2?
