Bungie forced to roll back Destiny 2 game state after deleting in-game currency

When a new update is released to the game, there is always a danger of something being broken in some unforeseen way. Unfortunately for both Bungie, and the Destiny 2 players, something major has broken with the release of patch 2.7.1.

A whole host of players are reporting that many of their currencies such as Glimmer, Legendary Shards, Ascendant Shards, Bright Dust and many others have been completely reset with the introduction of the newest update.

This obviously caused a massive disturbance within the community with many members reaching out to Bungie on both Reddit and Twitter to try to let them know about the situation.

Bungie was quick to try to defuse the situation with them tweeting:

“We’re currently investigating an issue where players may have lost their Glimmer and/ore various infusion materials after Update 2.7.1 went live. Please standby for updates.”

The Destiny 2 servers were then quickly taken offline to prevent more players losing their infusion materials. Bungie then tweeted various updates to let players in on their progress of rolling back accounts to their pre Update 2.7.1 state in regards to infusion materials and currencies.

The last tweet at 6:34pm PST reads:

“Rollback for player accounts is complete. Destiny 2 will be brought back online around 7 PM PST.”

For the full 2.7.1 patch notes, including changes to the Hard Light and Breadneck auto rifles, Destiny Tracker has you covered. Read it here.
