Destiny 2 Trials of Osiris rewards, map guide, best guns: April 3-7

Trials of Osiris is a 3v3 competitive game mode that combines the intense gameplay of the Elimination game mode with the high stakes of possibly going “Flawless”.

Achieving the Flawless status is done through winning 7 games in a row against other teams without a single loss. The Fireteam is then given access to a special Social Space known as The Lighthouse. Here the Fireteam is granted extra loot and an emblem that proves their worth. To start the event, all players in the Fireteam must be at least 960 Light.

All players must have also purchased one of the following Trials of Osiris Passages from Saint-14 to be granted access to the event:

  • Passage of Mercy - Forgives one loss per run
  • Passage of Ferocity - With zero losses, your third win grants a bonus win
  • Passage of Wealth - Increased tokens from completing and winning Trials matches
  • Passage of Wisdom - Grants bonus XP from Trials wins, scaling with the number of wins on a ticket
  • Passage of Confidence - Grants bonus rewards from Flawless Chest

Weekly Map - Cauldron

Cauldron is the Trials of Osiris map for this week. The map takes place in a deserted Hive structure on the edge of a large chasm.

Cauldron is a short to medium range map that favors weapons like Shotguns, Auto Rifles, Hand Cannons, and Pulse Rifles but is still home to a few longer sightlines that can make Sniper Rifles usable in the hands of a skilled player.

Here is a top-down view of the map that has been created by graphic designer @r3likt:

A large portion of this map is very close quarters with areas such as the Throne Room, Bone Room and Mothball Room favoring closer range weapons with ones such as Shotguns and Auto Rifles most likely being the best options.

There are still a few places for Scout Rifles and Sniper Rifles to shine though.

The entire outside portion of the map from Bone Cliff around to Prison Cliff is great for sniping, especially when both teams spawn in these locations leading to the possibility for some quick kills only a few seconds after the round starts.

Sniping from Center Bridge down into the Throne Room, and even further into Bone Room/Prison if the automatic doors are open at the time, is also possible to potentially great effect. Prison stairs into the main Prison room and vice versa is also a longer sightline that can be used with long-range weapons.

Trials of Osiris April 3rd - 7th Rewards

  • Three (3) wins: Powerful Reward - Arms
  • Five (5) wins: Powerful Reward - Exile’s Curse Fusion Rifle (details below)
  • Seven (7) wins: Pinnacle Reward - Chest
  • Flawless: Pinnacle Reward - Helmet

Five Wins Powerful Reward - Exile’s Curse Fusion Rifle

Exile’s Curse is the 5 win loot drop for Trials of Osiris this week. This weapon is an Arc Fusion Rifle that is a part of the High Impact archetype of Fusion Rifles, meaning it has a long charge time but makes up for it by dealing massive damage.

These High Impact Fusion Rifles have been somewhat of a problem within the Crucible due to their ability to kill consistently from long range with the right perks.

Unfortunately, Exile’s Curse does not have a single one of these ‘must-have’ perks for PvP in its perk pool. Its first column of perks is filled to the brim with situational perks that don't offer a whole lot most of the time such as Underdog, Firmly Planted and Grave Robber.

The second perk column does have some objectively good perks like Multi-Kill Clip and Feeding Frenzy but these are more for PvE with most of the other perks like Elemental Capacitor and Disruption Break being real duds. A small argument could be made for Firmly Planted and Snapshot Sights while playing a very defensive style of crouching around corners and waiting for enemies to come to you.

Exile’s Curse simply does not have a spot in the current meta.

There are much better High Impact Fusion Rifles to use like The Wizened Rebuke from Iron Banner or Erentil FR4 from Legendary Engrams as both of these can come with perks like Tap the Trigger and Under Pressure to really push out the one burst kill in PvP to some ridiculous ranges.

If you want a good Fusion Rifle for PvE then its a much better idea to work towards the Pinnacle weapon Loaded Question as it is an absolute monster and almost any activity.

Recommended Perks for PvP

  • Barrel - Hammer-Forged Rifling, Full Bore
  • Magazine - Projection Fuse
  • Perk 1 - Firmly Planted
  • Perk 2 - Snapshot Sights
  • Masterwork - Range

Recommended Perks for PvE

  • Barrel - Hammer-Forged Rifling, Full Bore
  • Magazine - Liquid Coils
  • Perk 1 - Field Prep, Grave Robber, Threat Detector
  • Perk 2 - Multi-Kill Clip
  • Masterwork - Range

Trials of Osiris will run from the Daily Reset on Friday 04/03 at 1700 UTC until the following Weekly Reset on Tuesday 04/07 at 1700 UTC. Trials of Osiris will return the following Friday.
