Bungie announces Destiny 2 fundraiser for Australian Bushfire Crisis

Bungie has recently announced a fundraising event in support of the Australian bushfire crisis, according to their latest ‘This Week at Bungie.'

These devastating bushfires have been rampaging across inland Australia for some weeks now with the death toll recently rising to a total of 28 when 2 firefighters were killed on the remote Kangaroo Island in South Australia.

It has also been reported that over 2,000 homes have been destroyed, with thousands of people now relying on family members, or public shelters to support them.

On top of the loss of human life over 10 million hectares have been burnt away so far which has resulted in the calculation that over 1 billion animals, including mammals, birds, and reptiles, have been killed by the fires with many more being displaced from their natural habitat.

In response to this crisis, Bungie is developing a limited-edition T-shirt fundraising campaign to support the firefighting and animal conservation efforts. The T-shirt will come with a redemption code for an exclusive emblem for Destiny 2 titled “Star Light, Star Bright”.

This purchase will be available for pre-order on the Bungie store and Bungie Store EU  between Thursday, January 16 and Tuesday, February 18 at 9am PST. The design for the T-shirt has yet to be revealed but “the team is currently hard at work on the T-shirt design and we’ll share a preview early next week” says Sr. Foundation Manager Christine Edwards.

Bungie has stated that 100% of the profits generated from these T-shirt sales will be split 50/50 between WIRES, Australia’s largest wildlife rescue organization and the NSW Rural Fire Service, which services New South Wales where the fires have been particularly fierce.
