Bungie started out February with a bang as they debuted the first look at Weapon Crafting and some of the Exotics we can expect to see when Witch Queen arrives later this month.
Weapon Crafting
Weapon Crafting is confirmed to take place somewhere on Mars as a sort of interactive relic. The trailer shows off the relic as a massive size monument with what seems to be endless possibilities.
This part of the trailer creates more questions for me than it answers. It seems weapons will have multiple unlockable slots and perks but there are no details as of yet that say how many perks and what perks will be available to be customized. My hope is Destiny will implement a system where once you have used a perk or weapon enough you are able to apply that perk to any version of that weapon that drops for you.
Grand Overture
Grand Overture is the first weapon we get a peek at during the trailer, it seems to be a chargeable weapon that fires shots that explode on impact against your enemy.
Parasite
Parasite is probably the most Destiny Exotic that is shown in the trailer. It shoots explosive projectiles that are … Hive worms. The trailer describes it as a “Worm Launcher with increasing damage,” so I’m not sure if the Launcher will have a similar prep and explode mode like Ticcu’s Divination or if damage will become more severe based on the number of worms you can explode on a target.
Osteo Striga
Osteo Striga looks like if Thorn and Risk Runner had a deadly baby. This SMG has “swarming projectiles that trigger a toxic burst” and the trailer makes it look like a toxic version of Halo’s Needler. Osteo Striga is definitely my favorite weapon in the trailer and a quick Google search of the two words gives you Osteo “relating to the bones” and Striga “a genus of seed plants living as root parasites” so this just leads me to believe we will be shooting parasites into our enemies’ bones until they explode… sick.
The next part of the trailer gives us our first look at the class specific glaives. Each class is getting one with a special perk and as of now we are not sure if they are Exotics or Legendary like the class swords from the Red War era of Destiny 2.
Titan Glaive - Edge of Action
The Titan , Edge of Action, comes with a great supportive feature that actually fires a Titan Bubble with a mid range projectile. This could be an extremely effective weapon for when you are trying to move your team out of a tight situation.
Warlock Glaive - Edge of Intent
The Warlock Glaive, Edge of Intent, is the true supporter class Glaive as it fires a mid range Healing Turret. This gives Warlocks another extra turret to add to their army of “battle buddies.”
Hunter Glaive - Edge of Concurrence
In true Hunter fashion this Glaive does nothing for your team or allies, it is all about dishing out a shocking death to your enemies. This weapon shoots chain lighting that seeks like a cold snap grenade and looks to be extremely effective at basic ad clearing.
Exotic Titan Chest Hoarfrost-Z
This chest piece replaces the Titan barricade with a towering Stasis Wall similar to what is generated from glacier grenades.
Exotic Warlock Gloves Osiomancy
These gloves give Warlocks the ability to have enhanced seeking cold snap grenades as well as an additional grenade. I am hoping the enhanced seeking is a charged ability and not just intrinsic or these gloves could end up being nasty in Crucible.
Exotic Hunter Helmet Blight Ranger
Interestingly enough this is a Helmet exotic that increases the damage of projectiles when they are reflected by an Arc staff. Though the trailer shows it against Titan Hammers in Crucible I would love to see how much damage this does when it reflects a Nova Bomb. Though this seems like it would mostly be a PVP Exotic, I am looking forward to testing it out against Hive “Guardians” soon.
These are all incredibly interesting and I can’t wait to get my hands on them soon in the future. There are no doubt more to come but for now this is the appetizer I needed to get me ready for when Witch Queen launches February 22nd.
