After the hiccups that came from a premature launch with Season of the Splicer, Bungie is finally ready to officially unveil the open Crossplay Beta.
When Season 14 first opened up, some players were able to invite and join their friends from across different platforms. This seemed to be one of the causes for server issues with the launch of the season and when Bungie brought the game down for emergency maintenance it was quietly removed.
This time however , Bungie has a specific and organized system for how Guardians will be able to link up across Steam, Stadia, Xbox and PlayStation during this limited beta testing event.
Starting May 25th and running to May 27th, Players will be able to access a unique Vanguard Strike playlist that will automatically match them with players from different platforms.
A couple things to note here is that you will not be able to invite or join on any of your specific friends during the beta test as Bungie wants to focus on the data specifically from the matchmaking experience.
The Beta is going to be locked specifically to this Strike playlist so you will not be able to form fireteams or take any Crossplay groups to any playlists outside of the strike.
As a token of gratitude Bungie will be rewarding any player that completes three Cross Play strikes with the “Stars Crossed” Emblem. What I really like about this emblem is that it features the colors typically associated with the four platforms Destiny 2 can currently be played on.
