Trials of Osiris is a 3v3 competitive game mode that combines the intense gameplay of the Elimination game mode with the high stakes of possibly going “Flawless”.
Achieving the Flawless status is done through winning 7 games in a row against other teams without a single loss. The Fireteam is then given access to a special Social Space known as The Lighthouse. Here the Fireteam is granted extra loot and an emblem that proves their worth. To start the event, all players in the Fireteam must be at least 960 Light.
All players must have also purchased one of the following Trials of Osiris Passages from Saint-14 to be granted access to the event:
- Passage of Mercy - Forgives one loss per run
- Passage of Ferocity - With zero losses, your third win grants a bonus win
- Passage of Wealth - Increased tokens from completing and winning Trials matches
- Passage of Wisdom - Grants bonus XP from Trials wins, scaling with the number of wins on a ticket
- Passage of Confidence - Grants bonus rewards from Flawless Chest
Weekly Map - Rusted Lands
Rusted Lands is the Trials of Osiris map for this week. The map takes place in and around a handful of rundown buildings situated in the Eastern Flood Zone on Earth.
Rusted Lands is an interesting map in that it can be a short, mid and long-range map rolled into one so anything from Shotguns to Snipers is totally viable.
Here is a top-down view of the map that has been created by graphic designer @r3likt.
As mentioned before almost any weapon of any range is viable on Rusted Lands. Some great spots for Sniper Rifles or Scout Rifles are from Tank through to Truck, from the top of Front Yard down to the bottom of Front Yard or vice versa, from Courtyard up into Broken/Broken Yard and from Assembly down into Front Yard or across to Building Ledge.
For the mid-range, weapons like Hand Cannons and Auto Rifles, areas like inside Assembly, around Garage, Inner Courtyard, and Broken Yard are the perfect distances to really take advantage of the power of these weapons.
Areas like Front Yard are still fine for these weapons if you manage to catch someone out in the open, just don't expect to be able to use them to any kind of effect from top of Front Yard to the bottom.
As for the shorter ranges with weapons like Shotguns and Sidearms there aren't as many spots that they can be used but to great effect but there are still some choice areas. Using a Shotgun inside Tunnel when contested the Power ammo spawn is a great way to gain area control while inside Assembly, around Garage and around Broken Yard are also some great spots for those shorter range engagements.
Rusted Lands does indeed favor the mid to long-range engagements so it’s best for maybe 2 Guardians on the Fireteam to focus on mid-long range combat with weapons such as Beloved, Revoker, Hard Light, Spare Rations, and Suros Regime while the third Guardian can equip shorter range weapons such as Astral Horizon, Mindbenders Ambition, or Breachlight.

Three Wins Powerful Reward - The Scholar Scout Rifle
The Kinetic Scout Rifle ‘The Scholar’ is the 3 win reward for Trials of Osiris this week. It is a part of the High Impact archetype meaning it is very slow firing but packs a solid punch as a trade-off.
Unfortunately for The Scholar neither its stats or perk pool really makes it stand out from other High Impact Scout Rifles such as Imperative, Calusea Noblesse, Talons of the Eagle and Does Not Compute.
Although an argument could be made for The Scholar since it can be easily farmed for with Trials tokens while all those other options either aren't available anymore, are locked behind Raids, can only be obtained through Crucible Legendary drops, or only available when Iron Banner is on.
The Exotic Scout Rifles Jade Rabbit and Polaris Lance are both High Impacts but they take up an Exotic slot so that's another possible reason to use The Scholar since it’s Legendary.
It's a struggle to recommend The Scholar for any PvE activity since it cannot roll with a single damage increasing or reload enhancing perk unlike all the other options.

Five Wins Powerful Reward - Tomorrow’s Answer Rocket Launcher
Tomorrow’s Answer is this week’s reward for achieving five wins on a single Trials of Osiris Passage.
Unfortunately, Rocket Launchers have not had a place in the meta for a long time, not since the heavy nerf to the Cluster Bomb perk and removal of a significant amount of auto-reload mechanics.
Rocket Launchers are massively outperformed DPS wise in PvE activities by every other weapon class in the Power slot due to their low magazine size and the constant need to reload. Rocket Launchers still have decent burst DPS and so are great for quickly, and efficiently taking out difficult enemies such as Champions in Nightfall: The Ordeal.
Rocket Launchers can work ‘ok’ in PvP if they have the Tracking Module perk but without Scavenger perks, only a single round is given with Power ammo which most of the time will only result in a single kill. Weapons like Machine Guns are given enough ammo to result in possibly 3 or 4 kills if the player’s aim is true and is simply easier to use.
If you wanted to use a Rocket Launcher in PvP then its best to use the Truth Exotic anyway if you have it.

Seven Wins Powerful Reward - Astral Horizon Shotgun
Astral Horizon is an Aggressive Frame Shotgun that sits in the Kinetic slot. As it has a slow fire rate but high damage it is not very well suited to PvE activities due to its fairly low sustained DPS.
It is, however, very well suited to PvP as this high damage allows it to achieve one-shot kills from a ridiculous distance, especially when you add in some of its Range enhancing perks. Astral Horizon has turned out to be one of the best PvP weapons in Destiny 2 as it combines the meta Aggressive archetype with the possibility to roll both Opening Shot and Quickdraw perks, something no other Aggressive Shotgun can do.
Be sure to farm this as best as you can this week as it won't come around again for a few weeks.
