With Season of the Splicer, players have been confused why Seasonal Challenges have reward names such as “Extra Large XP” but reward much less experience points than in previous seasons.
Theories around the XP names have been largely shared amongst the community but in a Bungie Developer Update this morning, Bungie has put all speculation to rest and has laid out exactly what XP means in Season 14.
A bug was also reportedly squashed from Season 13 which allowed for the max XP boosts from Season 12 to carry over to Season 13 which also added to the confusion as to why rank climbing feels slower in Season 14.
The Destiny Dev team does plan on rebranding the challenge names to something more easily distinguishable but that will not come till a later time. Even with the changes to XP and with the bug fixes, Bungie states that even by only completing the seasonal challenges players will still overpass Season Rank 100 by the time Season 14 ends. This does not include XP from enemy kills, Playlist Rank Ups and Activity completions.
So though it may take a bit longer to hit the max, hitting Season Rank 100 is still more than doable in Season of the Splicer.
