Season of the Splicer is now in full swing and with it comes the new six-Guardian activity, Override.
Override’s are currently able to be launched directly from the H.E.L.M. menu in the director after you complete the seasonal introduction quest with Mithrax. To start the season, Override’s are solely taking place on Europa. The Moon and Tangled Shore will however be joining the destinations on May 18th and May 25th respectively.
Override’s at first will seem like a cyber take on Gambit when you first load in. There is a large conflux operating in the middle of the map and enemies will start to spawn on all sides of you. When you take enemies out you will start to see pink Motes dropping on the ground. Collecting these will allow you to bank them at the conflux to progress the bar on the left side of your Hud.
If you manage to collect ten of these motes and bank them at once, you will spawn a heavy chest for you and your allies to replenish your ammunition.
After a while, champions will spawn on the battlefield and after eliminating them and their forces you will notice a Vex portal activate on the field. Not everyone needs to go into the portal but once you are in you will be in the Vex network similar to the introduction quest of the season.
The goal for those in the portal is to eliminate the Scytale and bank a Data Spike to progress the bar of the activity even farther.
While you are progressing the activity the Vex will be attempting to lock you out of their network. To do this they will lock the bank down and spawn what are the equivalent of Blockers to keep your team from banking. They will be glowing red so eliminate them as quickly as possible.
After doing so, Oracles will spawn around the portal and slowly start to change red, once they glow red do enough damage to overload and blow them up. This will spawn platforms around the bank that your team will now need to ascend quickly to get to the top and interact to “hack” the conflux.
Rinse and repeat this till the activity bar is filled. You will know when you have progressed far enough when a the conflux turns into the same kind of portal Mithrax made with his gauntlet.
The Vex Network will now be a dangerous obstacle course that you and your team will need to navigate. There are “firewalls” to watch out for and almost every floor does a disappearing act at some point. There are upgrades to increase your survival chances in this area but you will need to continue upgrading your Splicer Gauntlet to make them worthwhile.
Only one person needs to make it to the end of the course and after they do, everyone else will be pulled to the boss fight.
The boss fight is fairly straightforward as you will be eliminating enemies and tanking down the boss’s health.
When the boss goes immune you will need to find the Scytale enemy and eliminate it to drop a Data Spike. Once done, the three Vex boxes will be able to take damage which will allow the boss to go back to taking damage as well.
Once you have defeated the boss, head to the chests to claim your loot. Note that you will need to have a Key Code made in your Splicer Gauntlet in order to claim loot and upgrade resources from the second chest.
If you find yourself needing more Ether to make a Key Code, simply head into playlist activities such as Crucible, Gambit and Strikes to earn more Ether for your Gauntlet.
