Destiny 2's annual Solstice of Heroes event is set to return again this week

Take part in the returning European Aerial Zone activity to earn exclusive Solstice of Heroes armor.

Bungie has announced that the annual Solstice of Heroes event will be returning to Destiny 2 upon the upcoming weekly reset on Tuesday August 11th and will run until September 8th.

The Solstice of Heroes event is similar in theme to the currently running Moments of Triumph event in that it focuses on celebrating the accomplishments of Guardians throughout the year.

The ever looming threat of the Pyramids ships make it a weird time to celebrate, with even Eva Levante commenting on this during the teaser trailer for the event, but it seems Bungie has just decided to let this slide and go ahead with the event anyway.

The event will focus around completing different objectives and bounties around the world of Destiny, including the returning European Aerial Zone from last year's Solstice of Heroes.

European Aerial Zone

The EAZ is an activity and area taking place high up in the clouds over the European Dead Zone.

This activity is returning from the previous year’s Solstice of Heroes and has a fireteam of 3 Guardians racing against the clock to eliminate as many of the high value targets as they can.

A boss will then spawn that will also need to be eliminated.

Once the boss is destroyed reward chests will begin to spawn in random places around the EAZ and the Fireteam will need to find as many of them as they can before the time limit runs out.

The more high value targets the fireteam eliminates during the first part of the event, the more chests that will spawn.

Solstice of Heroes Armor

The biggest reason to compete in the event is the exclusive Solstice of Heroes armor. This armor is handed out by Levante when you first start the event but it is only at the green Uncommon tier.

The player will need to complete certain objectives and bounties corresponding to each armor piece in order to upgrade it to the next highest tier.

Once the Solstice set has been upgraded to Legendary a new set of much harder objectives will be unlocked that need to be completed in order to upgrade to armor to the highest variant, Majestic.

These are the objectives that need to be completed to upgrade to Majestic:

  • Complete a Nightfall Ordeal on the Master difficulty.
  • Complete a Nightmare Hunt.
  • Complete Pit of Heresy.
  • Win seven Trials of Osiris matches. (Not on a single Passage)
  • Complete a Tier 5 Altar of Sorrow three times.

It is important to note that once the Solstice armor is upgraded to at least Legendary during the event you will be able to continually work away at the Majestic objectives once the event is over.

Once a piece of Solstice gear has been upgraded to Majestic a white glow will be unlocked for that armor piece.

Once the complete set has been upgraded to Majestic a special Universal Ornament set can be purchased from Eververse for either Silver or Bright Dust.

This Universal Ornament set will have a special glow attached to it that will change in color depending on which subclass you have equipped.

The glows on both the Universal Ornament set and the regular Majestic set will glow at a higher intensity depending on the amount of Super energy you have charged up.

Eververse

As is the norm in Destiny, with a new event comes a new stock of Eververse goods to purchase.

Bungie has made it clear in the recent ‘This Week at Bungie’ blog post that most of the new items will be available for both Bright Dust and Silver at some point over the course of the event.

These exclusive new items include 2 Sparrows, a Ship, 3 Ghost Shells, 2 Emotes and a Finisher. Unfortunately the Finisher will be the only item that will remain a Silver only purchase.
