Everything We Know Coming To Destiny 2 In 2023

New Lightfall, New Me

As we wrap the year out and take a look back on everything that has happened this year in Destiny 2, it is hard to not get excited about what is on the horizon for Destiny 2 in 2023.

The major expansion, Lightfall, is set for an early launch in 2023 on February 28th. This means we will not have to wait too long into the new year to already jump into a new world filled with neon flashing content.

New Destination

Lightfall is set in the most futuristic location we have seen in Destiny 2 history. Neomuna, a city on Neptune, is a cyperpunk styled masterpiece filled with tall buildings, bright lights and ... cyber palm trees? Neomuna alone is enough to be excited about as it looks to be one of the most fleshed out areas Bungie has put into Destiny 2. It honsetly reminds me of what New Mombasa would've looked like in a happier time in Halo 3: ODST.

New Subclasses

Strand is going to be a new form of Darkness Guardians get to hold onto when Lightfall hits next year. It is described as a psychic energy that creates and weaves a web of threads, underlying reality and connecting all things in the universe.

Each class as usual will be able to utilized Strand in their own unique way.

Tyrant Titans will use Strand to manifest claws to get up close and personal with their enemies. They can lunge and strike at foes in true Titan fashion.

Architect Warlocks will be able to use Strand to infiltrate enemy minds and pull matter and use it as projectiles against opponents.

Threadrunner Hunters will use their new abilities to move like Spider-man as they weave their rope darts to swing through the cityscape and hook into

New Raids and Dungeons

As with any new expansion, Lightfall will bring about at least one new Raid and a two Dungeons to boot. Right now, Bungie has kept those close to the chest but I am hoping that they push us even farther into Neomuna. It would be cool to have a Raid take place in a skyscraper, it could be like a six man Die Hard.

Loadouts

A huge quality of life change is set to come in 2023, customizable loadouts. Especially coming off of the API issue this week, Loadouts in Destiny 2 will be a breath of fresh air for players who have specific metas they like to run in certain activities. Whether its a encounter specific loadout in DSC or if you are chasing specific challenges in Gambit, Loadouts will be a must use feature when it gets added to Destiny 2.

Of course if you are struggling to pick what weapons to use you can always use our Meta Tracker right here on DestinyTracker.

New LFG Experience

A long awaited feature is also going to be added to Destiny 2 with Lightfall, in-game LFG. LFG experiences have typically locked to third party apps like here on DestinyTracker, Discord, or other sites. Soon, Bungie will have a solution to the pain point of finding a group with an in-game system to help you find a group for pinnacle activities.

While not much has been said about the feature, Bungie did state "It doesn’t matter if you are looking for mentors to teach you a raid or just want to farm some Grandmaster Nightfalls; you will find someone here to help and, maybe, new friends to play with in the future" They promise to share more details on LFG soon.

This system however will surely tie in with the new Commendations feature Bungie plans to launch that will enable players the ability to "thank" or give "kudos" to their teammates or opponents. This seems like it will be a metric other players can see and interact with to judge your experience level.

New Ranks

To give veteran players a new system to chase, Bungie will be adding Guardian Ranks a reputation system that promises to be a rewarding experience for both new and old players alike.

There is certainly a lot of content coming with Destiny 2 and the hope is that it keeps us threaded in game all year long. I know I am personally looking forward to thwipping through Neomuna as a Hunter.
