Where is Xur in Destiny 2 today? The exotic and mysterious gear merchant, otherwise known as the Agent of the Nine, is ready to sell you some new exotic weapons and armor in exchange for your legendary shards.
This week, the Agent of the Nine, has settled himself in at Nessus this week to peddle his wares. Find him in the Watcher’s Grave atop Emperor Calus’ Pleasure Barge.
Exotic Weapon - Prometheus Lens
Cost - 29 Legendary Shards
Prometheus Lens is an Exotic Trace Rifle, one of only 3 within the game, that deals Solar damage. Its Exotic perks read:
- Prismatic Inferno - Fires a Solar trace beam and generates a damaging heat field that grows while the weapon continues to fire.
- Flame Retraction - Kills with this weapon return a fraction of the ammo used to the magazine, extending the beam's duration.
Prometheus Lens is a fairly solid Energy weapon that has the added benefit of being very fun to use, like all Trace Rifles. The damaging heat field expands over a few seconds of firing, reaching its max diameter of a couple of meters.
This heat field does solid damage to enemies caught in it that manage to avoid the main weapon beam although enemies do have to be fairly tightly packed in order to use this extra damage field.
The Flame Retraction perk really puts in work. Each kill with Prometheus Lens will return 70-75 ammo into the magazine and only takes a fraction of this to kill most low-mid tier enemies. This ensures that the weapon has almost 100% uptime on firing as long as there are enemies to kill.
Note that the magazine is filled from reserves, it isn't a free reload. I highly recommend picking this exotic up.
Hunter Exotic - Lucky Pants
Cost - 23 Legendary Shards
Lucky Pants are a piece of Exotic Leg armor that is exclusive to the Hunter subclass. Its Exotic perk reads:
- Illegally Modded Holster - “Precision hits load on round to the chamber of stowed Hand Cannons. Hand Cannons ready faster and are more accurate immediately after swapping to them”
As you can see this Exotic is based around the use of Hand Cannons. It should be noted that it just says Precision hits are needed to load a round not Hand Cannon Precision hits so the player does not need to use Hand Cannons in both Kinetic and Energy slots.
The Lucky Pants are a relic from earlier in Destiny 2’s lifespan when many Special weapons today like Shotguns and Snipers were Power weapons so players would be using two primaries in their Kinetic and Energy slots.
Nowadays many players use a single primary weapon such as a Hand Cannon along with a Sniper or Shotgun so it can be very difficult to get consistent precision hits to load the extra rounds into the stowed Hand Cannon.
It’s still possible to run a Scout Rifle with a stowed Hand Cannon to get those extra rounds but its not exactly a recommended loadout.
The extra ready speed and accuracy are certainly welcome, but it’s not as much of a difference as you would expect for taking up an Exotic slot. This Exotic deserves a rework to bring it in line with the current Destiny sandbox, as it stands its a fairly worthless Exotic.
If you are low on Legendary shards its best to skip buying this.
Warlock Exotic - Apotheosis Veil
Cost - 23 Legendary Shards
Apotheosis Veil is an Exotic Helmet for the Warlock class. Its Exotic perk reads:
- Insatiable - Immediately regenerate health, melee, grenade, and Rift energy upon activating your Super. Nearby allies recharge class abilities faster.
Apotheosis Veil is a fine Exotic that can definitely help the wearer out in a pinch. For example, say the Warlock was pinned down by two enemy Guardians and had taken a large amount of damage so was waiting for health regeneration to kick in.
The two enemy Guardians, knowing the Warlock is weak, decide to rush the Warlock. Normally, if the Warlock activates a Super like Stormtrance in that situation they are so weak that they will still immediately be killed by the advancing Guardians, even in their Super.
With Apotheosis Veil, the Warlock will immediately regenerate back to full health and be able to easily take out the approaching enemies.
This above example is still very situational though but that's exactly what Apotheosis Veil is, a situational Exotic. Apotheosis can definitely save you under certain circumstances but in most instances, it isn't going to do a whole lot except give you your abilities back as most Warlock Super activations should be done at full health anyway.
Titan Exotic - Helm of Saint-14
Cost - 23 Legendary Shards
Helm of Saint-14 is an Exotic Helmet for the Titan class. Its Exotic perk reads:
- Starless Night - Enemies that enter Ward of Dawn are blinded, while allies that pass through gain and overshield. Guarding with Sentinel Shield blinds nearby enemies.
For most of Helm of Saint-14’s time on Destiny 2, there wasn't much of a reason to use it. Ward of Dawn itself wasn't that strong and there weren't many situations where the Super could be used to its full potential.
The release of Shadowkeep saw a significant buff to Ward of Dawn in the form of the returning perk ‘Weapons of Light’ which gives a 35% increase in weapon damage and lasts 15 seconds. This buff to Ward of Dawn has also made Helm of Saint-14 a much more tempting Exotic as the protective Super is starting to become more widely used.
The combination of Helm of Saint-14 and Ward of Dawn gives massively increased shield strength while standing inside the Super, an Overshield and Weapons of Light buff to allies when walking through the Super as well as the ability to blind enemies that dare to enter the Ward.
This creates an impressive form of area denial. Expect Ward of Dawn and Helm of Saint-14 to be used in Trials of Osiris to gain an easy round win whenever overtime is declared and the overtime zone must be captured.
