New Destiny leaks seem to confirm 'Europa' destination to debut in Year 4 expansion

As we near the conclusion of Season of the Worthy players have begun to cast their eyes forward to what the future of Destiny 2 will hold. If Bungie holds to tradition we should see a trailer for the next Season within the next day or two along with an information page on Bungie.net.

It is around this time of the year that Bungie will also start to drum up hype for their yearly September expansion and it seems that a short teaser has been uploaded a little early onto the official Destiny Instagram page.

The post was deleted almost instantly but many were able to save the link directly to the post to be able to bypass the deletion. The teaser can be viewed here. Credit to Reddit users ‘Dragonsdoom_2014’ for spreading the word and ‘pygreg’ for providing the above link.

The teaser itself shows Eris Morn walking across an icy tundra with strong winds hindering her movement. Looming large in the background the planet Jupiter can be seen suggesting that Eris is currently on Europa, a long teased destination in Destiny.

Eris continues to trek across the snow and eventually starts to summon some kind of dark magic in her hand, but the purpose of this is currently unknown.

As Eris walks off into the distance the words “June 9 2020 9am PDT” fade into view. So it seems that on the same day of the next Season starting this teaser should drop for real along with a possibility of more information from Bungie.

The description of the Instagram post could also hold some clues as to the content of this expansion. The description reads: “The next chapter of Destiny 2 is almost here. Tune in the unveiling at 6pm CEST on June 9.”

This could just be a coincidence but the use of the word ‘unveiling’ is an interesting choice as it does hold significant connections to the game and previous leaks.

Those of you familiar with these leaks will know that one post mentioned that the main combat force of The Darkness is known as ‘The Veil’.

Think of them as kind of like Dark Guardians, they are the direct underlings to the paracausal force of The Darkness. This was indeed an unconfirmed leak though so take this with a grain of salt.

In addition to this connection of ‘unveiling’ and ‘The Veil’ we also have the veiled statues located at the end of The Garden of Salvation raid and within the Pyramid ships themselves.

Essentially, The Darkness has a few connections to veils so it seems more than a coincidence that Bungie would choose the word ‘unveiling’ to reveal their September expansion.

It’s appearing more and more likely that we will be getting our first taste of our fight with The Darkness come September and that Jupiter’s moon Europa will be the battleground. Since Io is also a moon of Jupiter then it’s entirely possible that a large amount of fighting could take place here too.
