The release of Season of the Chosen has seen three new Aspects and four new Fragments added to Destiny 2 for Guardians to acquire.
How to Get
Aspects
The Stasis Aspects are obtained through a short questline that can be started by visiting the Exo Stranger on Europa. This quest will take you deep into the Well of Infinitude, which is located east of Aetherion Abyss. Eventually the objective marker will lead you to a bunch of Darkness Shards which you will need to destroy with Salvation’s Grip. If you have yet to acquire this weapon, check out our handy guide here.
Following these Darkness Shards, and destroying them along the way, will eventually lead you to the large open room. Here a larger Darkness Shard will spawn along with several waves of increasingly difficult Vex enemies. There is nothing too difficult here, just be prepared for a decent fight. After the fight has concluded the next step of the quest will unlock.
The next step of this Stasis questline is to complete the Heroic version of the current Exo Challenge. At the moment this is the Survival simulation which has a recommended Power of 1270 and contains Overload Champions. I managed to complete the mission at 1255 Power with Ticuu’s Divination (Overload Bow), Long Shadow, and Blast Battue. It was a bit touch and go during a few sections but overall wasn't too much of a challenge as it was completed on the first attempt.
After this mission completes, head to the Darkness ziggurat in Beyond where you will be teleported aboard the Darkness ship. Head deeper into the ship to find a statue of a veiled woman. Interact with the ‘Embrace the Darkness Within’ prompt in front of the statue to receive your shiny new Stasis Aspect.
An important note here is that Bungie has been the unlocking of these Aspects account wide. You only need to complete the above steps on a single character then after logging in on subsequent characters simply talk to the Exo Stranger, interact with the ziggurat, and you will receive the new Stasis Aspect for that class.
Fragments
The new Stasis Fragments are earned in the same way that they were during Beyond Light, the new ones have simply been added to the selection screen at the Exo Stranger. However, to purchase these Fragments you will need a Memory Shard which can be earned by completing one of the three Vanguard, Gambit or Crucible quests. The objectives for these quests are fairly simple, if a bit of a grind. Just choose whichever core activity you like grinding the most and head into that playlist to complete the quest objectives.
Perk Breakdown
Here is a quick list of the new Stasis Aspects and Fragments:
Aspects
Titan ‘Howl of the Storm’ - While sliding, activate your charged melee ability to launch a wave of Stasis energy forward that freezes targets and creates Stasis crystals. (Two Fragment Slots).
This Aspect essentially creates a small Glacial Grenade in a forward line when the Titan uses their melee ability right after initiating a slide. This will freeze all enemies caught in its path and the Titan is then able to slide again with the Cryoclasm Aspect to shatter the Stasis Crystals for some easy kills.
Hunter ‘Grim Harvest’ - Defeating slowed or frozen combatants creates Stasis shards. These shards grant melee energy when picked up by you or your allies. (Two Fragment Slots).
These Stasis shards actually give a significant amount of melee energy back, approximately 40-50%. Since Hunters have many ways to slow targets this Aspect is extremely powerful as it allows an almost constant uptime of Withering Blade. Since Withering Blade slows, it can create Stasis shards which feed back into Withering Blade.
Warlock ‘Bleak Watcher’ - Press and hold the grenade button to convert your grenade into a Stasis turret that fires slowing projectiles at nearby targets.
Unlike Arc Soul, Bleak Watcher can be thrown like a regular grenade to a spot of the players choosing. Once it hits the ground, it will form into a small floating Stasis crystal and begin firing at nearby enemies. Shots fired will slow any enemy it hits and if the same enemy is hit several times, it will become frozen.
Fragments
Whisper of Chains - While you are near frozen targets or a friendly Stasis crystal, you take reduced damage from targets. +10 Recovery.
Whisper of Fractures - Your melee energy recharges faster when you are near two or more combatants. -10 Discipline.
Whisper of Impetus - Damaging targets with a Stasis melee reloads your stowed weapons and grants you a temporary boost to weapon ready speed.
Whisper of Torment - You gain grenade energy each time you take damage from combatants.
