Destiny streamer, ThirdEchelon, will be using his platform this weekend to help raise money for sick kids with Extra Life. If you are wondering how you can help ThirdEchelon and his team in their quest to help kids across the U.S and Canada, take a look at our Q&A below!
What is Extra Life?
Extra Life is a gaming-themed charity, started in 2008, in which gamers band together to help support sick and injured kids at Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals across the U.S. and Canada. Gamer’s can sign up, choose a hospital to support, and pledge to play games and raise money.
What’s happening on Saturday, November 7th?
This Saturday is Extra Life’s “Game Day”. While participants can raise money all year round, Game Day is Extra Life’s designated day for all participants to try and “push” for donations and to raise as much awareness as possible. Many gamers, including myself, will play games and/or stream for 24-hours straight.
Participants can sign up as individuals, or sign up as a team, all to work together towards the common goal of helping sick and injured kids. Our team, Guardians of the Little Lights, will be participating in the Extra Life charity marathon for our 5th year this year.
Can you tell me more about Guardians of the Little Lights?
I started streaming in 2016 and formed our team from friends I had made in the Destiny Community. I learned of Extra Life through watching Rooster Teeth, and saw all of the great work they did, and felt the need to try and help as well.
Our first team consisted of only 6 members, and we raised a little over $5,000 that year. Over the course of the next 3 years, our number of members grew, and fluctuated, but in the last 2 years alone, we raised a little over $37,000 and our complete 4 year total is now over $50,000.
You can find more about the team by going to www.elguardians.com and you can find everyone on the team this year at http://www.elguardians.com/participants/
More about ThirdEchelon’s Stream
Each year I’ve done a 24-hour stream, and this year will be no different. At least 17 hours of the stream will be dedicated to Destiny 2, and I’ll be playing a variety of content from the game. The nightcap will include myself and other friends playing Among Us. I have a bunch of Destiny themed giveaways, the most notable of which include:
- The top 50 donators will receive an exclusive ‘1UP’ badge on their Trials Report (https://trials.report) profile
- The top overall donator at the end of stream will receive a complete set of the Destiny 2 Year 3 triumph seal pins
- Every $10 donated will be an entry into a raffle for a set of 24 different Destiny 2 Emblems.
There will be other giveaways and prizes throughout the day, and this particular stream is always a fun time. The stream will run from 12 AM PST Saturday Morning, until 12 AM PST Sunday morning. You can find it at https://www.twitch.tv/thirdechelon
