What is Battlegrounds, Destiny 2's new Seasonal Activity

The thirteenth season has arrived in Destiny 2 and with it comes another brand new seasonal activity. Seasonal activities in the past have varied in all types from Matchmade to Public and to relying on current locations to entirely new instances.

This season Bungie has released Battlegrounds as the new activity and this one is one of the best to date. Battlegrounds is a matchmade three Guardian activity where you go head to head with Cabal Commanders looking to prove their worth to Empress Caiatl.

Currently, there are two different locations for Battlegrounds, Europa and Nessus. When you land into the activity you are immediately sent to begin repelling Cabal forces that have set up with an appetite for destruction.

For Nessus, you will be tasked with taking down Psions and other key holders to gain intelligence as to where the commander is located. After which you will face waves of enemies as they drop bombs for you to use to blow up their Shield Relays. Once the Shield Relays have been cleared you will face the leader and take him down while fighting the champions he throws at you along the way.

Europa is very similar to the layout of the Nessus battleground, the only key difference is that the first two stages are flipped. Instead, you will start off destroying the Shield Relays and then facing waves of enemies as you fight through the encounter.

After you have defeated the boss of a Battleground you are awarded a chest containing relevant loot and glimmer. Make sure to have enough Cabal Gold to socket a medallion in your Hammer of Proving so you can continue earning charges for the Prismatic Recaster as well as receiving an extra drop at the end of the encounter.
