Ronin Shell

ExoticGhost Shell

"He's completely infuriating!" Osiris hissed, looking out over the City from the window of the Consensus office. The latest repairs to the City's outer wall were progressing slowly, but it rose higher with each passing day. "Mm-hmm," Tallulah said. She sat with one leg hooked over the arm of her chair, picking her nails. The Hunter didn't raise her eyes; she'd heard this litany of complaints before. Osiris turned from the view, sighing. "Every time I put forward a course of action, he challenges me. You've seen it. Every time!" "You and Saint do love to bicker," she answered dryly. Osiris sighed, frustrated. "The man can't seem to help himself," he said, and began to pace the office. "Did I mention that he's always watching me while I speak? Intently. Waiting until I've made my point." "That just sounds like he's listening," she said. Her words were pointed. "He isn't!" Osiris insisted. "He's tapping his fingers against his arm or shifting in his seat. Planning what he's going to say next. Searching my words for some flaw." "You're paying him a lot of attention," Tallulah said. "His behavior demands it. And nothing gets done! He seems to delight in distracting me." Now Tallulah looked up. "And he's doing a great job of it." "Yes!" Osiris said, punctuating the outburst by throwing his arms in the air. The complaints continued. Tallulah watched as the Warlock paced, detailing every perceived slight and annoyance Saint-14 had inflicted upon him over the last few months. Tallulah laughed. "Osiris!" She said, raising her voice over his rant. Osiris stopped to look at her. "What?" "Listen to yourself." The Warlock was silent, confused. Tallulah raised her hand, a single finger extended. "You notice every detail about him," she said. She raised a second finger. "He distracts you," she continued. A third finger raised. "Yet you can't make yourself avoid or ignore him." She rolled her wrist, letting the thought continue unsaid. Osiris stared at her. "And?" he said, crossing his arms over his chest. The Hunter laughed. "Be serious." Osiris blinked. "Excuse me?" "I need to make it clearer? Okay. You two should—" Osiris raised a hand sharply, palm out. Tallulah raised her eyebrows. "Whatever you're implying," Osiris interrupted, waving away the thought, "you could not be further from the truth." Tallulah gave a tight-lipped, knowing smile. "Just… figure this out. Every single meeting is an hour longer because of you two. Third-wheeling is wasting my time." Osiris narrowed his eyes at her. She stood and clapped him on the shoulder. The gesture only deepened his look of disdain. "Good luck," she said, and left the room.
