This year, Bungie, the powerhouse behind some of our favorite video games, is pulling out all the stops for Pride Month. They're not just acknowledging it; they're embracing it, celebrating it, and sharing it with all of us in the gaming community.
Bungie's teams, Trans@Bungie and the newly minted Pride@Bungie IDEAs (Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity Associations), have been working tirelessly behind the scenes. They've put together a series of events and activities that not only honor the LGBTQ+ community but also educate and inspire us all.
Pride Month is a time to remember and honor the struggles and victories of the LGBTQ+ community. It's about acknowledging the brave souls who stood up at the Stonewall Riots in 1969, sparking a revolution for gay rights. It's about celebrating the countries that have embraced same-sex marriage over the past two decades. But it's also about recognizing that the fight isn't over. There are still people in the LGBTQ+ community who face persecution, and Bungie wants us to remember them and continue the fight.
But Pride isn't just about the struggle; it's also about the celebration. Bungie is joining in the festivities, standing shoulder to shoulder with the community and its allies. They're sending out a message of love, acceptance, and authenticity. They're reminding us that Pride is about being loud, being proud, and knowing that we are enough just as we are.
Bungie's celebration isn't just talk. They're putting their pixels where their mouth is. Last year, they released Pride-themed wallpapers featuring Destiny 2’s LGBTQ+ characters and gave all players the End of the Rainbow transmat for free. This year, they're upping the game with the Rainbow Connection emote, a fun in-game feature that lets players summon rainbows. And if you missed last year's transmat, don't worry, they've got you covered. You can grab both the emote and the transmat for free using the codes TK7-D3P-FDF and R9J-79M-J6C, respectively.
But Bungie's commitment to Pride goes beyond the digital realm. They're continuing their support for the It Gets Better Project, a global initiative that supports LGBTQ+ youth. They're bringing back the Pride 2.0 pin in the Bungie Store, and every purchase includes the Infinite Prismatic Emblem. Plus, all proceeds for June go directly to the It Gets Better Project. If pins aren't your thing, you can make a direct donation to the Bungie Foundation and still get the emblem.
