The Destiny 2 Vault of Glass Raid Race is set to kick off this Saturday at 10 am PT. Bungie has previously announced details around as Contest Mode being enabled for 24 Hours which will lock fireteams to 1300 Power Level regardless of gear and artifact level. Today, Bungie added the first exotic to the “no fly” list for Contest Mode, Star-Eater Scales.
That’s right, the new Hunter Leg Exotic will be prohibited and locked out of the Vault of Glass Raid Race as it is giving certain supers a little too much power when powered up correctly.
Star-Eater Scales activates when a Hunter collects additional Orbs of Power when their super is already charged. The more orbs you collect the more damage your super does. Testing for this Exotic shows that it will even allow for Golden Gun to do more damage than it would do with Celestial Nighthawk on.
Because of the sheer amount of power this gives Hunters, Bungie has disabled it across the board while they look into the Exotic more on their end.
I personally feel this is a good move after the issue from this week where the Empty Tank Lost Sector was bugged and dropped Exotic Helmets instead of Exotic Legs, thus giving players less chance to farm for this must have exotic. Disabling this Star-Eater will simply keep it more fair for everyone as the gates are cracked open to the Vault of Glass.
