All Warlock Exotics changes coming in Season of the Worthy: Sanguine Alchemy, Verity’s Brow, more

Bungie has taken the opportunity to make some changes to various Exotic Armors alongside the release of Season of the Worthy.

These changes are not a series or straight buffs or nerfs but a mixture of the two to try to balance out a few of the underperforming Exotics while also attempting to reign in some of the more powerful ones. One certain Exotic Armor piece for the Warlock has even seen a complete redesign on its Exotic perk.

Here is the list of changes for the Warlock class:

Apotheosis Veil

• This Exotic is now guaranteed to drop with a minimum +16 to Intellect.

A very minor change. As Apotheosis Veil revolves around casting your Super, Bungie thought it necessary to increase the minimum stat roll for Intellect on this Exotic to +16. As an example, my Apotheosis Veil has an Intellect roll of +12, if we change that to the new minimum that only gives an extra 4 intellect. Since benefits to cooldown are only gained every 10 levels the chances are against that extra 4 giving you the next breakpoint in cooldown reduction. This Exotic is already very situational and so it sees very little play time, this small buff won’t change that.

Contraverse Hold

• Reduced the damage reduction granted by this Exotic to 20%, down from 40%.

Contraverse Hold is mainly used in conjunction with middle tree Voidwalker and Hand-Held Supernova. Hand-Held Supernova has already been shown as getting significant nerfs with the new Season as its charge time is being increased, its range reduced and the bolt replosion radius reduced.

Combine this with the above Contraverse Hold nerf to damage resistance from 40% to 20% and this grenade build is likely dead.

Sanguine Alchemy

• Sanguine Alchemy has received a complete redesign. Its new perk, Blood Magic, allows the wearer to pause the countdown timer of any Rift they are standing in by getting weapon kills, extending the Rift's duration.

This is the major Exotic rework for this patch as Sanguine Alchemy is seeing a complete change to its Exotic perk. It’s not stated whether this increase in Rift time by killing enemies while standing in the Rift will have a cap on it.

Perhaps there will be diminishing returns for how long the timer is paused for each kill after a certain number is reached, ensuring the player cannot gain a constant Rift as long as there are enemies to kill.

Depending on how long the timer is paused per kill its possible Sanguine Alchemy can give the player a mini Well of Radiance that can last just as long but obviously without the increased regeneration or damage increase.

Ophidian Aspects

• Now increases the lunge range of all Warlock melee attacks, even if the ability is on cooldown.

Verity’s Brow

• The buff provided by this Exotic now increases your grenade damage by 10% per stack.
• The buff to allies' grenade recharge rates now kicks in when you cast your grenade.
• This Exotic now provides a buff text notification indicating how many allies are currently benefiting from your increased grenade recharge.

Verity’s Brow is going to see a few major changes. The increase in grenade damage per stack of Energy weapon kills is a great change that can lead to some high damage builds. The activation of the buff to allies grenade recharge rate will now need to be activated by throwing your own grenade so it's not a passive increase of regeneration speed.

As a tip, use this Exotic in combination with Risk Runner as it is an Energy weapon so it activates the buff of Verity’s Brow. Risk Runner’s Exotic perk causes it to absolutely shred through enemies, allowing the wielder to quickly accumulate stacks for Verity’s Brow.
