Interview
Tell us about yourself, who are you and what do you do?
My name is Nathan of the Insane... or nathINSANE. I am many things - a Dad Gamer, a Meme Enthusiast, a Dreamer, a Weeb; But at the end of the day, I am just a dude trying to make people giggle and have fun gaming. I stream on Twitch and make YouTube videos throughout the week.
How and why did you get into content creation?
I started creating content way back in 2016, on Twitch, streaming Trials carries. I wanted to see what it was like streaming, so I followed a few streamers via the PlayStation 4 app and tried to help others.
Tell us about your community
My community is an army; An army of weebs and inclusiveness. You don't have to like anime (although preferred), but we like to have fun, make jokes, and create a welcoming environment.
What do you enjoy most about Destiny?
The unique world and community it has created. There's so many different types of people and things to do, it's really an amazing universe.
What is your favorite PvP map in Destiny 2?
Jav-4, Dead Cliffs, and Burnout are my top Destiny three maps, they just play really well have a good chunk of cover in 3s. Overall very enjoyable.
What advice would you give someone looking to get into content creation?
Be yourself. I've been doing this for years and it wasn't until 2020 where I finally decided to just let my weirdness show.
I make content that's true to myself and that I enjoy. If you make things you like, then you'll find a community that likes the same things as you. If you try to follow other people's molds or ideas, you will lose yourself and your identity.
Build a community that vibes with you and who you are. That's the best advice I can give.
If there was one thing you could tell your former, aspiring-creator self, what would it be?
If I could go back, it'd be the above advice. Also more meme videos because they are fun to make.
In your opinion, what does it take to make a team successful?
It takes selflessness and understanding that this isn't a giant competition. We are out here to provide entertainment to the community while also trying to help bring in new and returning people.
There's no place for elitism or fake people who treat others as revenue or numbers. We create a better community when it's genuine and people aren't holding onto imaginary spots.
Going forward, what do you want to accomplish with your team?
I want to help foster inclusiveness and show people not to be insecure about their content or who they are. Share your communities, find fellow creators you vibe with, and don't be afraid of "losing" viewers.
People spend their time how they want and worrying about that will just lead to insecurity, not allowing you to connect with others. That's all this is, we are out here connecting and having fun playing games.
Don't take yourself too serious.
Where can we find you on social media?
